antimalware free software that really works good (not hips)

in my opinion after personal tests antimalware software that protect detect and clean good are: panda cloud , mse and threatfire the last one in level 4 of behavior protection is perfect 10!

 

Ashampoo Anti-Malware v1 newly released which they combine their Antivirus & Antispyware recently & trust with good protections.

IoBit 360 may also consider good & compatiable with most of AV to run together.

Both got free in the promo period.

 

Lol, those 2 I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

The free tools worth knowing about are avast 5, hitman pro, mbam and cureit and of course prevx free for its detection too, oh and online armor if your in need of a firewall

 

Just curious since I really like TF too... what does it miss when set to its default sensitivity of 3?

threatfire is a behavior protector is one category alone maybe with mamutu and norton sonar but threatfire is free and stops all malware....maybe threatfire on level 4 is hips to....

comodo antivirus without hips miss many threats but is good with agressive heuristics
avast and antivir miss to many malwares and rogues also avast and antivir can not heal-repair infections and not really prevent infections of what detect....
pandacloud and mse do better job on prevention and healing threatfire do perfect job on prevention!

Avira miss too many malware? I'd love to see your proof of this. Seeing that it gets a 99% on just about every av-compart. Also avast as well has a high detection rate. Both remove malware very well, in my own experiance. If you could provide some proof of these statements, that would be great.

 

why lol !!? my opinion based on some tests i have see with my eyes what i say.....

 

antivir detect many malwares expept some spyware and rogues and zero day malwares but not really prevent infection of what detect and it can not healing many
when i say really good antimalwares i mean detection-prevention-healing all 3 are my rules to say a antimalware-antivirus is good
dont ask to see any test im not a company i do it only for fun and for informations

 

You might be thinking of the on-demand but it does have a file scanner that is constantly looking for files that are run. Avira also detects and PREVENTS spyware and zero day malware. According to your "rules" Avira and avast both should be good. Avast and avira both have a web shield that stops alot of mal ware even before it loads up on the screen. Whether it be drive by's or scripts. I could aruge these points all day but I have to eat lunch so let me know.

 

Also if you could post these "tests" that you have seen with your eyes. That would be great.

 

Avira only got about 87% on Av-tests dynamic test I think

I'm on my blackberry at the moment so can't really post the link yet, maybe someone else will

 

Dynamic test for Dec 2009. Avira was 97 out of 100 and Avast and MSE were both 96 out of 100.

 

You are talking about Av-comparatives, I'm talking about Av-test, avira only got around 87% ...very poor!

Their test is 5 times bigger than Av-comparatives

 

my tests are small but a serious antimalware product must stops serious threats.......and when says that detect something must prevent any infection in registry an in system32 folder at least.........

Panda cloud is nowhere near complete enough to compare with avast or antivir. it has pretty poor prevention as any virus can just shut it down. if they implement a self protection, webshield and behaviour shield then it will be decent, until then you can't even compare avast with it.

 

87% is very poor? Damn, you must be a difficult person to please, lol. As far as the OPs' question, just about every AV, free or not has anti-malware capabilities. If you're looking for a second opinion, then MalwareBytes/Superantispyware. For a main program though, really, just stick with whatever AV you are using at the moment.

 

Webshield is not needed its just another shield to have running, the on access shield should take care of it

Its prevention is very good, I don't know where you saw its bad.

Behavior Shield would be nice, I hope they add that soon

I don't get why you say it can't compare with Avast

(I am not saying one is better than another, we are all free to share our opinions)
