A fair point. However, Eset is obviously “repackaging” these data in a “Product A versus Product B” format, selected in such a way as to meet their specific self-serving marketing objective.

These are all marketing tricks..."Marketing" in order to increase their product sale....or you can say they are just trying to tell their product is one of the best in the market..

Actually no. When they were not compatible with Windows 7 6+ months before its release I understood. But once it was released and it took them over 4 weeks just to fix a firewall issue among other issues. It was enough for me and money went elseware. And to date they are STILL having problems with Windows 7 and there firewall. :cautious:

I currency use ESET Nod32 V4. This is for transparency only.

This ad is not our problem. It maybe an issue for the other vendors and their supporters some off whom may live here.

It is a challenge to ESET competition, let them respond for themselves with what is wrong with the ad. If they remain silent then what can we conclude?

When my current license expires I will do my own research and 30 day trials and select an AV at that time. It may be Eset it may not. I have zero loyalty to any vendors,

If they remain quiet I conclude that they know what most of us know, ESET is not on top anymore and is definitely not much of a threat right now.

We can conclude they Eset is not a big enough threat to the other products vendors and thus they don't waste the time.

Any company that advertises is going to pick areas that their own product is better than a competitor to try to make the public believe that it is overall a better product:-it happens all the time with all sorts of products it isn't lying its being "selective"!:-would you buy any produt that was advertised as being "10% worse" than one of its competitors?might be honest but bet it would hit sales!:-come on get real with regards advertisments you don't actually believe them do you?

Well maybe you know what others think, I don't know, not being able to read minds.

I could conclude that the quiet vendors ( not their supporters) don't read these threads and don't care what they say if they do read them.

I could think that they don't want to get into a wrangle over this ad at least not here.

Maybe they will respond in time...

For me I'll follow my own agenda and review real performance on my system when the time comes.

You know I think every vendor claims to have the best product, only one can actually be telling the truth so the rest must be lying so from the OP's point of view should all but one be sued?Sorry I just can't believe this thread and for those that "worry" about other people around the globe taking all or any form of advertising as being truthful:-you really need to find a hobby that gets you out more!

Those are my thoughts exactly. So many people in this forum seem to have an axe to grind and feel like they have to defend whatever product they are using and bash whatever product they are not using.

If it was not true, Company's would not use this kind of marketing. Just something to think about.

Now back to sitting on a beach watching the waves roll in as I argue with other people on Wilders. Ahh hobby's got to love them.

That is because people feel they have to vindicate the choices they make, picking fault(bashing)with products they have rejected is an easy way of doing this!

the title of this thread is very harsh and really not deserving of Esets actions. I agree, others do it and like it or not, it is what it is.

They didn't include avira as a contender. Wise guys them, they already knew beforehand who's the king ;)

I, too, find it odd that they left out some MAIN competitors
(ie. Avira, Avast, G-DATA, PrevX, etc.)

Maybe because the results aren't favorable for them?

BTW, I've tried ESET SS and NIS 2010... NIS seems to be lighter, at least on my system.

The best thing to do in all cases is use the program that is suitable for your needs.

If you feel an anti-malware company is providing false advertising, I would contact them for clarification.

We'll let the vendors compare but we won't do it here.
