    Hey there

I had ess 4.014 installed , now I uninstalled it and installed eav 4.2.2 on my windows 7 32bit system

There still is this driver running - is it needed or can I uninstall it, if yes how?

You can simply uninstall the driver over the device-manager. Open it und go to the non-pnp-drivers and delete the driver. After them you should restart, thats all. You can control also, with autoruns from http://www.sysinternals.com wich driver are installed.

That driver is crucial for http/pop3 filtering performed at the Windows Filtering Platform level.
