Which Internet Security Suite would you prefer? NB: I have not included only HIPS program like Malware Defender with firewall / Prevx/ MSE because these are not complete suites. I hope the suites I mentioned covers almost all the major suites used.
My preference is no security suite. Avast AV (free), Online Armor FW (free), MBAM on-demand (free) plus (WinPatrol) and sandboxie (both free). If all of that fails, Macrium Reflect (also free). Excellent freeware protection and equal if not better than any security suite.
i chose eset, even though it gives me problems on windows 7 (version4) version 3 on xp and vista pc's is my favorite.
if it was a suite, id choose KIS, but i dont use suites, i use Avast IS (without fw, only until avast 5 is out of beta then ill be using professional) and OA (with firewall component uninstalled) and Windows 7 FW
Hey frizen771! How does the OA FW uninstalled play with your other products? At one time I ran that idea with Kerio 2.15 ! OA threatened to remove the FW disable feature but clearly in your case they didn't! This post may be OT if so I'll PM it to you now just in case that happens.
I prefer building my own suite with free software. My Suite: Panda Cloud, Winpatrol Free, Malwarebytes Free, Windows Firewall, and Browser Defender
Good Evening ! Currently using G-Data I.S.2010 so far so good. An excellent suite for the money. If you purchase it go through Ultimate Internet Security out of the U.K. Their support is prompt and courteous. The new 2011 version is being released probably within ninety days. All the best....Securon
I don't use an Internet Security Suite but if I was going to, I would probably choose Kaspersky IS or ESET Smart Security.
KIS obviously reason i have already given in this poll https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=262298&page=3
i don't trust in this kind of internet security hype, not trusting in term of quality of the product, the logic is like internet security equals "car who can fly, become boat, and also ride on the land" imagine the engineering complexity behind it,to make good internet security as my experience on developing software would be need hundred of people doing programming full time, several virus/malware/trojan collector,automatic/manual analysis 'cure/fix' development,as you knows windows support for broad of version(for now : 2000(some of vendor),xp,vista,7),32 / 64 bit either native binaries or legacy compatibility, now thats one hella of a job!,for now the quality of most product below my expectation,it might be need another 2/3 years for good IS packages,so for my own solution i would trust vendor for it's own quality of specific function(antivirus,anti-malware,firewall,etc),either based on my own internal review or 3rd party, yes it's gonna cost more investment and cpu cycle but well worthed the security and stability(you need test your own for any compatibility problem between each of the good 'package'). but for home user use i think i will go vote kaspersky and eset!.
OA++ is my choice. Great protection and my laptop runs faster than with any other setup I have tried.
I used NIS 2004 for 6 months. That was the first and last suite I have ever installed on my computers. For users like myself, they are redundant. My Vista with Shadow Defender and Avira Antivir on demand is faster than ever. I can also understand why some people might find their peace of mind running an IS.
Never a suite. In passing years I've made my own so to speak. I wouldn't know which one to pick, but when forced to use one I would try Avast and Online Armor. No special reason for that. Just a feeling. Most of the time my hunches regarding software are spot-on .
