    As long as the drivers are 64 bit and it offers all of the primary functions, it's 64bit compatible. Of course, with Patchguard, none of the 64bit HIPS offer the same efficacy as their 32bit versions although they do provide most of the protection.

    Has anyone done a detailed comparison between 32 and 64bit versions of Comodo, outpost, etc?

    Guys,

    When you have a Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, why not invest some time in AppLocker and XP Mode (using virtualisation capacity of your CPU, when it supports that). The new x64 comes with so many OS features to draw access/policy management lines and secure/harden your setup without spending CPU cycles on security software.

    @Windchild
    Please make a lengthy post on an "intro" and "how to" :D

    Regards Kees

    There is always of course Faronics Anti Executable 2 or 3 denying all unknown things from running in the first place much more reliable and effective than behavioural blockers like Prevx.

    If I was on 64 bit my setup would be something like AE2 and AnalogX Script defender to block unknown scripts from running, deep freeze or returnil and a fire wall probably LNS, and firefox security /privacy add ons.

    So with my 64 bit setup there would be no need for scanners like Malwarebytes and A-Squared Free because no malware be would be able to get in in the first place.

    PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE.

    Read the thread title again, this thread is about 64 bit and Sandboxie does not have a 64 bit version.

    Outpost: On Seven x64 there are more features missing than on Vista x64. Also, Outpost slows down the system (tested both on a real and a virtual machine).
    IMO, you can forget Outpost on Seven x64, the HIPS gives also wrong warnings about window messages, driving me mad. On Vista 64, very most process modification attempts are blocked. On Seven not. But who is still using Vista?

    Comodo: Apparently, it doesn't have any disadvantages compared to x32. The system isn't slowed down in any way and it seems to offer full functionality. But the emphasis lies on "seems". If you test with Matousec SSTS you will see that some protection isn't very secure. For instance it fails all keylogger and global hook tests. Outpost on Vista is better there.

    KIS: It seems to be an allrounder. No system slowdowns (thanks to hotfix b), good HIPS (doesn't fail SSTS keyloggers but global hook tests).
    I've started dozens of samples. The KIS HIPS + sandbox always blocked the malware.
