It seems that they continued the stand alone version and made it windows 7 compatible (do not know whether it is only x86 or also for x64).

I have thrown away my lisence after their lifetime lisence trick (discontinueing drive sentry). So i can not check whether the old lisences are still valid. Any one tried?

 

I am very curious about its engine，maybe OEM from some well-known engine？

 

I agree, that was a farce and never did get my money back after i tried.

Something went amiss with that company after what looked to be a most promising start.Once the lovely Katie,who was extremely active here left,it all went rapidly downhill with regards to support.

 

I believe they use their own engine.

No the credit crunch put a heavy toll on most service companies in the UK in 2008, so they problably had to cut costs and tried to leverage lisence income.

Well I tried and on the free version you can't even put in your profile, so it wont find your lisence on the central server anyway

Their forum is down also and last news is more than half a year old also, generally not a good sign

I tried the suite and it would not connect to the internet.
It looks as though the Desktop version is limited, no more trickle updates and unable to register username password.

 

How much did the license cost, I forgot? I remember when all that was going on. Skeptical People started asking a lot questions and they quit answering them and then they took the money and ran.

 

Anyone that has access to that info should add it to Wiki. So people that use wiki will see what they did also.

 

The Drive Sentry outfit is a *Diamond* in the rough (if you get my drift).

Bloody shame, actually. They had the makings of a dadgummed good security program, if they would have just hung on & kept to the straight & narrow.

My guess -- that outfit had a budding S.Wozniak-type but no S.Jobs-type.

You remember rightly. I did not buy a lifetime license.

Obviously, the term "lifetime license" referred to the life of the Drive Sentry outfit, & not to the life of the licensee. Thus, the licensees are the stuckees, & Drive Sentry is the stuckor.

To put it another way, the Drive Sentry folks got the elevator -- the licensee folks got the shaft.

Another one of these kinds of posts, huh? Okay, what "tests"? This company is on life-support at best is my guess. There's no telling what's going to happen to this updated version 2 weeks from now. People will likely get screwed again.

 

Funny. In another one of these kinds of tests performed by me Drivesentry did not block a single file with signatures and allowed infection during signature update. Also a heavily infected system was "clean":

Awe come on you guys show a little love. Everyone deserves a second chance. Hey, lets all pool are money together and give them a donation to help them get off the ground. Then maybe they can start selling lifetime licenses again.

 

people install security to help 'stop' people stealing their money,

they take it to another level and steal it themselfs.

i actually think its worse getting the money with permission, then just plain stealing it
