ESET Mail Security 4 for Microsoft Exchange Server Public Beta 1

ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server Public Beta 1 is now available for testing by the general public. ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server (EMSX) is a new product built on ThreatSense, the industry's most accurate proactive technology for detecting viruses and other malware, delivering proactive protection against zero-day threats and attacks. It features anti-spam protection, transport layer protection and support for additional server roles as well as a number of technological improvements, including:

• Improved antivirus and antispyware protection, based on the ESET NOD32 Antivirus v4 engine
• Anti-Stealth - technology to protect against rootkits
• Greylisting function and other techniques to verify the legitimacy of incoming messages and block unwanted ones at the mail server
• Both preset and customizable anti-spam profiles to provide the desired balance between detection and performance
• Self-Defense - protection against malware which may target ESET Mail Security
• Transport layer scanning - improved scanning of the email database
• Performance monitoring and statistics with graphical visualization
• Mailbox-specific rules - flexible rule-based quarantine of potentially infected messages and spam by recipients' addresses
• Improved graphical user interface, compatible with screen-reading software and High Contrast mode
• Time-saving system tools: ESET SysInspector and ESET SysRescue simplify system diagnosis and cleaning of heavily-compromised systems

NOTE: The beta test version is a precursor of the final product without full functionality and documentation. It is intended for experienced Exchange Server administrators and should not be installed on mail servers that perform critical tasks because it may cause errors or crashes.

Oh OK thanks. Just there's usually a beta forum, or there has been in the past for Smart Security V3 and V4.

Greylisting appears to be permanently enabled, even when AntiSpam has been disabled. All my emails are being delayed, even the ones originating from IPs that have been whitelisted.

Other issues I've encountered:

No reboot prompt after initial installation. ESET MS loads up but Anti Spam options are all greyed out (even the Enable Anti Spam) option until a server reboot occurs.

Enabling Anti Spam > Mail Server Protection causes a "Non-functional" message to appear followed by "Enabled". No errors logged in Event Log.

Under Update > Advanced Setup, "Enable pre-release updates" is called "Enable test mode" in the documentation when you click the ? in the top-right corner.

Just want to say congratulations on ESET on finally bring it out

 

This beta doesn't work with Exchange 2010!
Will next release support it?

SBS 2003 R2 (Exchange Server 2003 SP2).

In addition I've had emails tagged as [SPAM] today even though the originating IP address is both "ignored" and allowed. Greylisting however is still something that cannot be turned off no matter what config you use. It even applies itself to allowed and ignored IP addresses too.

About Exchange Server 2010:

When I click on the installer I get the following message:
"Microsoft Exchange Server is not installed. Please install one of the supposed mail servers first. A list of supported mail servers is available on the ESET's web page."

I can only click OK and the installer quits.

Of course it is isntalled (is our mail server!)

 

same error with exch 2010 rtm here too. Try to install and the installer takes a crap saying Exchange isn't installed. User has full rights on exchange and a mailbox.

Since I haven't received answers on stiky thread I ask again here...

with ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server, Outlook clients keep disconnecting and reconnecting to exchange every 3-4 minutes...

very frustrating... online, offline, online, offline with related popupe notification etc...
