Better to release a good product than releasing product with full of bugs. Here is a post by their CEO on their avast blog.

Sorry guys, but that's a lot of whining for a free product.

The Beta is working great. What's the rush on the "official" release of a FREE product?

As one US governor (of Austrian origin) once said: "...I LIED". ;)

(long before his governor years, of course).

I think the program is great in it's current state. No rush on the final. Let them take their time to do the job right.

Have any of you been able to register the program? There is no way to get a Avast 5 license yet.

i think its reasonable, especially seeing what u get for free, afterall the whole point of a free version is to advertise for the paid version.

Avast 5 free doesn't require registration, if that's what you're talking about...?

Well it says for me that it does. Says I have 30 days to register the product. But the registration key keeps coming as invalid even though I got a new one.

Just to clear this up VLK has stated that the registration is in this version. Tho it had a few bugs pop over to the Avast forums to see the official response.

    Really?
I remember reading that it didn't have to be registered...
This was ages ago before the first beta though.

Unless they were just talking about beta version not needing to be registered.

If you go to the Beta forum under beta refresh. He states that it is now enabled but has a few bugs. I really don't know if you have to register to use it or not. But I know its there and active.

Yeah I've tried to register several times but none worked. The page does say you have to register in the next 30 days and the dates it shows are weird.

Got the exact same thing going here! Let's hope it works beyond the 30 days as I got rid of all my other AVs or else it will be back to Panda.

Sorry, but this ad is the least annoying thing. Sure i'd prefer not to have it there, but it's a small trade off for such an excellent free antivvirus don't you think? Opposed to crappy limits in other AV's like only 1 update check per 24 hours or constant popups for Premium version or crippled features etc.

Thank you, I think this little ad is acceptable ...
