How to fully optimize Windows 7 (software, tips, etc)?

    Just purchased a PC w/ Windows 7 Ultimate (x64 bit). I'm looking for some tips, tricks and optimization recommendations.

    Also looking for "must have" softwares and tools.

    Is there a site (or blog) that would detail this?

    Win 7 has imaging capabilities built-in. Check the Backup and Restore section/options. I just did one myself a few days ago and it works fine.

    Wow. Good to know. Is it 'imaging' that you can transfer to an external HDD or standard system restore feature that's available ion XP?

    You can easily transfer it to an external hd.
    You can always try macrium reflect free.

    Keep in mind if you use the built in Imaging with Windows 7. You need to keep the folder name it is in the exact same. Otherwise when you boot in though the repair menu via F8 at startup. It will be unable to find your Image and gives you no option to browse for it. This apply's to moving it to other Hard Drives or even just around in the system.
