    hello
i finally managed to install ess 4 on my vista business laptop.
i had a problem and reinstalled vista sp1.
i then was able to install ess4.
i then updated vista to sp2.
    everything seems ok.
the only problem now is when ess4 updates the virus definitions,
the balloon showing this is in the middle of the laptop screen, and not down near the task bar.
    any ideas?
    regards
    Steven

See if dragging the update balloon down to where you want it resolves the problem.

    hello
    thank you for your reply.
i tried dragging it down, but it will not move.
i thought it may be a problem with the video card, but other balloons from different programs are opening near the task bar
    regards
    Steven

I have had the same problem for quite a while.

I use a docking station for my laptop and often connect to other external monitors with different screen resolutions.

It may be that ESET only reads the screen resolution information when the program starts the first time or at least not often enough to know the correct position for the information balloons with the current resolution.

Double click on the ESS tray icon, then hit F5 to enter the advanced setup tree. Select - User interface > Alerts and notificatons, then click on Configure notifications... Click on the preview button and you should see the notification alert with a small border at it's top with an 'x' on the right. Left mouse click in the top border and you should be able to drag the notification window to where you want it.
