i just bought 3 keys for norton on ebay for 3pc's each and i spoke directly with norton and verified all three were unused and brand new legit keys for 3pc's via a phone call. so there are legit keys on ebay from some sellers.

I got NIS2010 3pc/2yr license for $6 on eBay a few weeks ago, and Norton confirmed it is a legit key.

I bought a boxed version of Kaspersky (AV+FW) in Milan at a famous electronic store in 2005 (50 Euros!). I left the country and when I finally installed the programs on my computer everything was fine except the programs would not update. When I contacted Kaspersky online, I was told the the license numbers had been blacklisted for some reasons and that I should go back to the store where I bought it.

Living in Seoul, it was not a practical solution and the bottom line is that even reputable resellers don't often have control over their merchandise. Nobody could really be blamed except whoever supplied that stock to the store. I lost 50 Euros, and Kaspersky has never been an alternative for me ever since.

The Kaspersky forum is outstanding, but the customer service is poor. I gave them a couple of license numbers for keys I bought on ebay, and their reply was a generic reference to licenses. I just forgot about it and assume the keys are legit.

I am not presently using KIS now, but bought a 3year/3 computer license for less than $18. I used it for several months until I switched to my current AVs.

When I first got a computer it had Norton on it. It worked well, and for about three years I renewed. Then it got expensive and I went to ebay where I got a couple more until I went to another AV. I never had any problem.

To each his own, and let the buyer beware, but if it is guaranteed by PayPal you will get your money back if the license is bogus.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Do you get the money back from Paypal if the supplier emails the key/code?

I thought that only applied to physical items like cd/boxed etc?

For as far as I know, that's true.

Maybe there is an exception for fraud ?

Possibly the seller may choose to avoid Paypal disputes (many disputes=risk ?) and refund because of that.

Yes, if the item is shown with this, "Coverage:
Pay with PayPal and your full purchase price is covered | See terms"

The refunds I have gotten have been from key codes. I have never had a bogus from a CD or boxed copy.

Some AVs seem not to be available and I have never been able to get Avast that was good. Two of the three bogus keys were Avast. I am tempted now to get an Avast Pro shown licensed for 7 years on ebay. I am not sure I would use it although Avast has always been a favorite.

    Jerry

I have purchased licenses for AVG, Norton, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, and several other non-security software on eBay over the years, all from U.S. resellers, and never had a bogus license. Maybe I'm just lucky. :)
