I'm using Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition on a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 7. This is a dual boot setup with Fedora Linux 12.

Windows 7 correctly shows the partitions on the drive:
    OEM partition 39MB
NTFS primary partition (drive D:, has Dell recovery files) 13.67GB
NTFS primary partition (drive C:, Windows 7) 97.66GB
    Linux swap partition 200MB
    Linux partition 37.48GB

When I run Paragon Backup, it shows the drive as Hard Disk 0, but does not display any partitions. Almost all options are greyed out, presumably because no partitions are found. When I run the backup wizard, it shows "LVM Hard Disk 0" with 149GB and "First Hard Disk Track" with 0 bytes. Nothing can be selected for backup.

What is the problem here, and how can I fix it? Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know what an LVM disk is. How do I know if I have one? Is this something Windows7 created when it installed?

Does Paragon's Partition Manager show the partitions?
If not, does GParted in Linux show the partitions?
Does Acronis Disk Director show the partitions?

You may need to repartition the drive.

Hello just changed to Paragon from Acronis myself with some issues that I am overcoming. From the posts re Acronis I gather Acronis Disk Director does not work with Windows 7.

Partition Manager does not show the partitions. Linux shows the swap partition and the LVM2 partition within a 40GB Extended partition. I guess this confuses the Paragon software. I didn't realize the implications when I installed Fedora. I'll either have to reinstall Fedora or (more likely) find different backup software.

When I installed Ubuntu 7.04, I created the partitions with Partition Magic before installing Ubuntu, that worked.

When I installed Ubuntu 9.04, I decided to create the partitioins fron the Ububtu Live CD. Whem I booted back to Windows, Partition Magic found problems. I had to repartition with Partition Magic, then re-install Ubuntu 9.04.
Not ll partitioning software plays nice(ly) with others.

On a multiboot Windows/*ix system, I expect that it is safest to use Windows partitioning programs.

THen one also has to make sure that Windows backup will handle Linux partitions.
