    I agree.

There isn't a separate procedure to report FP separately from real malware. It's one. When in quarantine, right click on the quarantine file and select "send to Sunbelt". Something like that. There is also when you restore the file the option to restore and send it to Subelt.

Which brings me to yet another issue:

    - It would be nice to KNOW when the upload of the file is completed. A "done" or "file uploaded successfuly" would be nice. (Twister anyone?).

Thank you as always Fuzzfas! We both think the same. I guess we need to create a separate thread called "VIPRE Request"? LOL. Go ahead if you want to. :)

They have a link right on their main page to submit requests/program ideas:

Of course we think the same. Veteran Twistees have common traits. :D In Twister it has occured that upload failed. You could see it and try again. Here nothing.

Thanks. I will use that tomorrow. :D

I agree. Also kinda weird updater. It doesn't check for updates on boot. Rather only after 2 hours of boot-up !! So if you open your PC after 3 days, VIPRE will auto-update after 2 hours and not on booting.
I used this link on Sunbelt Site:
    http://sunbeltsecurity.com/Submit.aspx?type=falsePositive&cs=5104D20A8309C784EE7BCD8BFF85EB45

My FP was resolved very quickly.

Yes, I didn't like this feature during my testing. If someone used their computer for an hour a day - it would never update! o_O

Have you restarted at all and run a scan in Vipre? My question lies around the issue Prevx and Vipre have when rootkits are scanned by Vipre. There are some issues I had with the scans hanging for hours even during a quick scan. Prevx has had conversations about the issue with Sunbelt but the way that both programs work there is a conflict.

Search the forum about this. It came up before & IIRC Sunbelt suggest that Rootkit checking should be disabled in Vipre.

    Correct.

Anytime if you use your PC daily less than the interval check time you will never get any updates.

I changed it to check every 12 hours, but I use my PC for about 8 hours a day and found I was never updated.

Hope their very sloppy implementation of updates is fixed by their next release.

No conflict yet that I can see I did a full scan with both without problems ;)

I brought up rootkit scans a while back and I was curious as to whether anything had changed since then. I uninstalled Vipre a few months ago to try something else but plan to go back because I really like it. Both Prevx and Sunbelt were good to look at the problem but said that the way they scan, conflicts. I had no problem shutting off the Vipre rootkit scan. I really like both companies and their customer service. It is good that TH has no current issues now. I was hoping there was an answer out there like that. :thumb: Just looking for an update.

I'm glad I came across this thread because I was planning on running this exact setup of Vipre and Prevx :)

Of course, but my point was, one article makes it sounds like they were fantastic in the tests, while the other shows they didn't do that well at all.

  20. Igster, after you tell me that Vipre is the best you stopped using it? Thats okay cause i saw the graphic chart at link you posted and man oh man they got "ouch' slammed in that test. " LIFTING LID ON GARBAGE CAN TOSSING LOUSY SNAKE IN "

I don't believe I ever said it was the best. I said it performed well in my tests and was very fast and light on resources.

It has never been officially tested anywhere though, so I could never say for sure other than my personal testing.

I'm trying Avast 5 Beta right now just for a change. I get bored and try out the new stuff because I am a geek and I have no life... ;)

  22. just kidding, i change often as well. avast though major snafu today with false positives i had 98 after last bad signature update. their forum servers still overwhelmed by users.
