Been using Vipre for a while, but am trying this Avast 5, beta 3 right now. So far I'm pretty impressed how this thing works for a free beta product. Very nice indeed.

    Build 5.0.259 released today.

So, question...does anyone know which features will not be part of the free home edition when it is released? Are there features we have now in the beta that won't be in the final release?

I'm liking this product very much, but I am curious what the differences will be between the paid version and the free version after the beta is done.

I haven't used this beta, but I'm guessing, the firewall and virtualization (sandbox) will be paid features.

The behaviour blocker would be included as part of the free version, to make Avast an even more effective AV.

    Maybe I'm way off.

The Free AV version is everything that is in there now.
The Paid AV also adds the Process Virtualization and Script Blocker.
The Suite also adds the Process Virtualization, Script Blocker, Firewall and Anti-Spam.

the free includes every but virtualization, and script blocker.

what you see in the free is what you are getting now and forever.

My Prevx license lapses in a few weeks and thought I would give Avast 5 a spin. I have to say this is very nice. Avast and OA Premium could make a great combo. I may even keep Prevx in the mix though it could be a bit of overkill since I have OA's HIPS protection...:thumb:

I'm using Both Avast and Prevx on one computer they seem to complement one and other very well.

It should take time to release because the firewall part has still some issues.

Avast has always been this way. They release slow, but in the end there product has less bugs and overall works better due to the fact they test for so long.
