Malwarebytes is one of if not the best in it's class and if anyone does get a zero day sample get it over to MBAM and it will be detected within a coupla hours and I would say that MBAM's cleanup of infections is probably the most thorough of all of em.

You can post links with samples over at MBAM's Forum under Newest Malware/Rogue Threats or use UploadNet.

I was using SpySweeper with antivirus and I think it was very effective. However, it slowed my system down so I removed it. Instead, I have bought Prevx3.0, SuperAntiSpyware Pro, and MAB. I'm using SAS in "real time" and MAB on demand. I've noticed that Prevx3 is very effective: it caught 3 pieces of malware that NOD32 missed.

I've also noticed that when MAB runs Prevx3.0 seems to run in conjunction with it. Has anyone else find this?

    Thanks.

You may want to consider putting them in each other's exclusion list.

NOD32 has a brilliant anti spyware component in it. Online Armor, as a HIPS should block anything missed by NOD32. If you really want, you can use the SuperAntiSpyware Real-time component (Paid) or just use it as an on-demand scanner(FREE).

Yes, that happened with me as well and slowed the scan times dramatically. Just removed Prevx for that reason and because it slowed my PC down by checking every file with their servers.

I am not a techie kind of guy but I use Sandboxie with no trouble and have never had any sign of a virus on my machines. I have MBAM and SuperAntispyware for on demand scans and I sometimes use Dr Web for variety but they never find anything.

If you want protection, go with "Sandbox" type software such as Sandboxie or DefenseWall. If you just want to play around with security software, as many of us do, try out a few of the suggestions above.

I also use McAfee NoScript and Web-of-Trust so they probably keep me away from most of the risk out there. These do not slow down my machine and are no-brainers as far as I'm concerned.

When you try whatever software you choose, you might want to be conscious of any slowdown in your machine. I used Comodo FW and Avira for a long time (years) and didn't realize how slow this combination was until I switched to Panda Cloud and Outpost Free. Now, I'm not saying this combination is the best, but it is light and with Sandboxie I believe I am well protected. I had Threatfire on one machine but it I took it off because it seemed to slow everything down a bit.

Off-topic: Sorry I wonder if anyone here can confirm if this one is rogue or not?

McAfee SiteAdvisor hasn't tested the site yet (I've submitted it for testing yesterday). Heard that WOT flagged it as dangerouso_O

Looks like rogue, server in Hong Kong and Domain Infos are hidden using privacy companies. Also HpHosts flags it. :ouch:

Thanks for the info. I should have seen something was wrong with those "5-star awards".

Still, not many rogue nowadays would offer a 6-month license for free :D

You are the master of your own wallet, but with OA and NOD, I think you are pretty well covered.

    Franklin,

Do not want to pull your leg, because I know you do some serious malware hunting, but that sentence is humorious. Isn't that the hard part, detecting zero day threats :D

    Re: AnitSpyware Suggestions?

It's hard for for everyone to detect a zero day till they get hold of a suss sample and analyze it.

If it won't run sandboxed/vm and no detections at VT then that tells me it warrants an upload/post for the real experts to take a look at.

The rogue authors are releasing new installers constantly that are tested to bypass detections of the major AV's/AM's at release and after a while you sorta just know what you have.

Why would these rogues need so many different installers?

As soon as too many of the good guy AV's/AM's start hitting one installer the bad guys release another that is zero day and which if installed will disable your resident protection.

All of the installers below are for the rogue "Internet Antivirus Pro" and this lot are from just one of my archives so I hope you can appreciate what all the good guy AV/AM's are trying to keep up with.

I like both SAS and MBAM but as others have said I believe that MBAM does a better job of cleaning than some others, however I think SAS has a little better detection rate but this is purely opinion. Both are light and do well with other security apps. I am using SAS right now but I have used both before

Possibly one download, containing multiple exe files which each target a different O/S or service pack or whatever other variable condition.
