    Hi

I would be grateful if someone could tell help me in my situation regarding downgrading my ESET Smart Security license to a NOD32 AV license.

Currently I have a 1 year, 1 pc license for ESS from Betterantivirus which expires on 01/01/10 and from this date i want to have a new 1 year, 1 pc NOD32 license expiring on 01/01/11...sounds simple so far. Now i'll admit this bit is purely my fault but i wrongly assumed that the price i would pay for getting the new NOD32 license would be the renewal price ($27.99), not the full price ($39.99). So i incorrectly placed the order for a NOD32 renewal costing $27.99 on Betterantivirus website giving my existing ESS username/password on the order form. I got a reply back from Betterantivirus support saying that i cannot renew on a different ESET product, meaning i would have to pay the full price of $39.99 for NOD32 AV to ensure that in future years i only pay the renewal price of $27.99. This sounds fair, so I replied back saying please refund me $27.99 and i will then place a fresh order for NOD32 AV on 1/1/10 @ $39.99 as i can already use my existing username/password with NOD32 AV until 01/01/10. Betterantivirus then replied back saying no need to do this, just pay us an extra $12 (ie $39.99 in total) and we'll make sure your new NOD32 AV license expires on 01/01/2011 so that i don't lose out in any period. I then paid $12 and toddled off to bed...

This morning i received an email from betterantivirus with a new username and password for NOD32 AV and with an expiry date of...wait for it...25th Nov 2010!!!!! Which is what i suspected would happen yet betterantivirus assured me that my license would expire on 01/01/2011. So what should i do now? Should i demand that betterantivirus refund me $39.99 and then i place a fresh order for NOD32 AV on 01/01/10 @ $39.99? Otherwise i'm only getting a 10 months, 25 days license yet i have paid for 12 months. Yes i'm aware that this mess wouldn't have happened had i not made a renewal purchase, but hey we all make mistakes!

    Cheers :)

    PS
Reason why i want to downgrade is that i have purchased a lifetime license for Outpost Firewall Pro so only want the antivirus software from ESET.

you have to wait untill your current license expires then cancel it. then buy the eav license. i tried it with a one week overlap and it confused the hell outta them. was still getting reminders for the cancelled license for weeks. it's a shame you cant just migrate it down as well as up.

To my best knowledge, it depends on the way the new license is ordered. I'd suggest contacting Betterantivirus to get this sorted.

    Hi Marcos

Betterantivirus are not replying to me anymore (i even created a new support ticket but no reply) so it seems stratoc is correct...this has confused them like hell and now that they've taken full payment from me for a new 10 month 25 days NOD32 license they don't care about my issue anymore.

Could ESET directly cancel one of my licenses immediately? Either cancel my Smart Security license (expiry 01/01/10) and then extend my NOD32 AV license to 01/01/11 or cancel my NOD32 AV license and inform Betterantivirus to refund me $39.99 back to my card. I would prefer the first option as it will save me all the hassle of waiting for a refund and then buying a new license again on 01/01/10. These are the license usernames:

    Please advise
    Thanks :)

psychopomp1, no problem. The removal was to protect your info. Glad to read that you have PM'ed Marcos. Take care.
