    Who cares !?!

I can't stand Symantec. So much so in fact that when they purchased PCtools I immediately dumped Spyware Doctor. I have such a hate on for this company I could rant for HOURS AND HOURS but I won't. Any IT person with half a brain stays away from Symantec. I have seen Symantec purchase other soft devs and within a year totally destroy the dev's application. Symantec has a history of this...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisitions_by_Symantec

This list isn't even close to the actual number... it must be at least double that!

They behave like Microsoft did in the late 90s and try to buyout/purchase ANY competitors!!! They usually lay off the dev staff of the acquisition and then destroy any future builds of the acquisition's application OR merge it into their own technology. This is anti trust behavior IMHO. Symantec you're EVIL! and your BS AV Denis Lab tests are about as classy as IObits recent behavior trying to cover-up their theft! Can you say ASTROTURFING!

    Solid-State

PS IMHO Nod32, SAS with Outpost Pro is the best 1, 2, 3 punch in the business! Owhh and Malwarebytes for on-demand.

PSS Astroturfing is the lowest of the low when it comes to promoting software Symantec! Even if your new applications work well the fact you come here and Astroturf shows you have no class what so ever and anyone associated with you is tainted! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing

    I care .

Your should reconsider your opinion . Facts say Symantec from (let's say) 2006 is not Symantec from 2009

Frankly with the current issues Eset is having with there products I cant agree there. I have never seen so many complaints / Problems listed in one day as I have seen in there form... The negative side is its always someone Else's fault not theirs.

Frankly this is how the world works. Banks do this other company's do this hell Utility company's do this. Microsoft has been smart to buy out what they have they get access to the code and the program this way. How the hell do you think Microsoft even came to be.

Anyways we have move enough off topic lets get back on Norton and how they operate.

I can't agree more! And looking at this thread it looks like they've moving into the Astroturfing business... Just watch the FAKE fanboys come outta the woodwork... I'm willing to bet 80% of them work for Symantec or one of it's affiliates and the rest are simply morons. What this thread is is nothing short of ASTROTURFING and is the LOWEST OF THE LOW when it comes to self promotion as it's founded in DISHONESTY!

Thanks for the $kind@ words . AGAIN I'll ask what is wrong with this ? What is wrong with what you call "Astroturfing" ? Nothing .

Uhh because an Astroturfer comes onto a forum PRETENDING they are a person they're not and do not disclose that they work directly or indirectly for the company that owns/wrote the software they are promoting. It's simply dishonest. Do you not agree? Do you not think it dishonest to use say two or more user accounts on a forum to promote? Some even speak back and forth with THEMSELVES! This is totally dishonest! Come on ASpace...

PS I'm still shocked a user like you with over 7000 POSTS (obvious poweruser IT security expert) would migrate to Symantec. DUDE you had a choice of Panda, Avira, BD and so many BETTER choices it's rather shocking...

Without delving into A is better than B, Symantec is an excellent anti-virus with a history of very few false positives.

Well, get over your shock, because folks here are going to use what they wish to use, whether you agree with it or not. Frankly, you should know better than to come into a security forum spouting off the way you are. :thumbd:

Well it's opened my eyes. I'm going to install it on a VM and test it out. Perhaps they have redeemed themselves on various levels. Hey I have an open mind ok! and more than enough reason to be skeptic!

hell, I bought Norton last night, dumped it today and went back to Eset. Certain people have a grudge against them, and some may be valid, but there isnt one damn vendors house at this site that can claim their product is perfect. Personally I find it mind boggling after all this years how Eset moderators can wither the justified and unjustified ridicule they take. I find their whole group interesting. I still, am a firm thinker that before it is all said and done, they are going to bring forth a surprise.

But what the hell do I know.;)

I sure hope this means some brilliant cloud technology written in assembly for ver 4/5 and not that they've sold out to Symantec because Miroslav Trnka decided it's time to retire to his own Pacific island! I'll bet money they have been courted in the past! Don't do it Miroslav don't do it!! ;)

Frankly, unfounded comments such as these are malicious and unwarranted. Have you seen the 26 page Code of Conduct for Symantec employees? I strongly suspect that any Symantec employee engaging in a deceptive behavior such as “Astroturfing” would be immediately terminated.

Would you be so kind as to provide details as to why you found NAV/NIS 2010 to be inadequate?

Pleonasm, please... knock it off with the Code of Conduct crap, will ya? I don't know if you are the most gullible person I have ever encountered, or if you are just someone who enjoys making outrageous comments. So a company puts together a list of impressive (to you) guidelines for employee behavior, and lo and behold, Pleonasm gets gushy and trots out said list as some sort of evidence (one of your favorite words) that the company is above all reproach. Don't you realize that you are precisely the type of person these corporate shysters write for when they create these Code of Conduct fantasy lists?

Pleonasm, go check out the Code of Ethics for the National Association of Realtors. I have no particular axe to grind with Realtors... some of my friends are Realtors... but see if you can keep from laughing at what you read....

"Realtors are knowledgeable and competent in the field of practice in which they engage".
"Realtors paint a true picture in their advertising."
"Realtors only make truthful and objective comments about other real estate professionals."

This document would be better titled, The Articles of Audacity! Sure, there are some fine Realtors out there walking the land, but there are a great, great many who are as crooked as a dog's hind leg. Only a complete fool would think that because it is written in a Code somewhere that it must be true!

Page42, you’re not being at all fair or reasonable -- and, as a professional, know that I'll accept your apology when your offer it.

You are well aware that I have never claimed that Symantec (or any other company) is “above all reproach.” And, with over 17,500 employees worldwide, it is almost inevitable that there exists more than one “bad apple” in the “bushel” at Symantec. Yet, it is still significant to note that Symantec takes a strong position concerning employee ethics: “Employees who violate the spirit or letter of the Code of Conduct are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.”

SolidState seems to believe (for who knows what reason?) that the majority (80%) of individuals who have positively commented upon the company or its products in this thread are in fact Symantec employees dishonestly posing as neutral observers -- and, judging by your post, I think you’re in agreement with this outlandish proposition. It takes quite a bit of naiveté to advocate this argument, in my opinion.

    Peace.

But it has accomplished it's purpose if it was intended to get Symantec/Norton some attention.
