I am going to wait to install until I read some comments. I admit that I would hate to spend a long winter trying to get my laptop to work. I will be especially interested in the frquency of FP.

I bet Trjam will give some insight soon. Reckon he might try it for some of us who are not very good at restoring our systems.

    Regards,
    Jerry

    AAHHH you got it.....good.....

Sounds like an reasonable plan Jerry, perhaps Trjam's input will shed even more light on the subject.

He might even change his Avitar for this discussion! :D

    EDIT:
By the way, I Activated my License Today because there is still controversy on that subject, and the answer is still not clear whether we need to Activate Today (now) or we can wait until another Time.

It is clear however, that the 'License Coupon' expires after 3 Months from registration date if not used, however, the controversy, when is the Registration Date? Today? or when Activated?

The way I view it, an few days or even an few Weeks are not going to be that big of an loss until I have an chance to Install without rushing things.

Downloaded a2 got the 1-year license via E-Mail, uninstalled a2 free and installed the full version. Seems to be working well with my other security programs.

a-squared finds a Trojan in Karenware Replicator

Downloaded and installed todays free a-squared Anti-Malware 4.5--no problem. Ran my first "smart scan" and a2 detected Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Swizzor!IK both in my Program Files and in my back-up copy of ptreplicator-setup.exe. This is after Avast, MBAM and SAS all cleared the file! and I've been running Karen's utilities for years and never had a problem. Is a-squared prone to false positives? At any rate I've emailed karen with a jpg of the result.

IKARUS is prone to FPs, yes. You may want to submit the file in question to Emsi Software as well. This can be done with a simple right click inside the scan results.

Can I run a2 in conjunction with Avira or F-Secure, or should I just use it as a stand-alone? Thanks!

I believe that I understand it now.....

The "License Coupon" referred to as the "License code:" in the Original Email, if not Activated (used) within three Months, will expire.

Today, the Day of the Free Offer, is the "Registration Date" because Today is the Date that we all Registered our Email's and started an Account with Emsi Software.

The "License code:" is "used" whenever the client enters it into the "Convert coupon code" link located in their Account under "Manage Licenses" and Activates it.
When the "License code" is 'Converted" (Activated) it is then considered "used", and the client has Three Months to do this before it expires.

Now, whether the three hundred and sixty five days starts Today, the "Registration Date" or starts when "used" (Activated) is the question.....?
An simple answer from an Emsi Software Representative is all that is needed to clear this up.

It will start from the day it's activated. Not from the day the account was registered/code was occupied. This is the way it works for all codes issued by Emsi Software.
