    Hi,

Where can I download NIS 2010? I have one more valid key and a spare computer to put it on.

Thanks guys. The softpedia site worked and I was able to activate the product with my last key. I don't know why symantec make it so difficult for legitimate users.

I concur. The only way that I've found you can download the trials from Symantec's website involves an opt-out trial. :thumbd:

You must search on Symantec site under Support --> Installation --> I want to install Norton Internet Security 2010 on another computer. Then they give you a download link for NIS or NAV

Should you have any version of Norton installed then you'll receive this msg. when trying to download other versions.

The method that ^Ale posted is much more viable except that it downloads a d/l mgr for each product and launches an installation afterward.

I just don't understand why Symantec can't list the complete setup files. At least you can acquire some of them from Softpedia.

    Hi david_h,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

To download the latest version of most Norton products, all you have to do is visit the link below. During the installation process you will be asked for your Activation Key. After you input the key, it will synchronize with the Symantec servers.

Download the latest installer for Norton products

    Thank you,
    Mike

Unfortunately NAV and NIS on the page you linked to are the 2009 versions.

Re: How to download Norton Internet Security - Ouch!

Mike's symantec page was 09 versions - I will try to find who owns that page and get it updated.

You can download NIS 2010 from here:

Thanks for all your help everyone. Unfortunately I will still have to stand by my original position - Symantec make the process of downloading the latest version for a legitimate user with a spare key unnecessarily difficult. If the link posted by Mike was for the current versions we would be there - but it isn't and users would find that link difficult to find anyway. I am now in the process of reinstalling Win 7 again and I will download the link provided by dschrader - it is trialware so I just hope it accepts my key without hassle.

    Hello David,

I apologize for posting the incorrect link in my previous posting. The update process is actually fairly simple using the Norton Update Center link below. When you select the "Update Me Now" button, a small application will download and check your system for previous installations of Norton products and then provide you with the download instructions for the newest version of your product.

The new installer will install the 2010 version alongside the 2009 version and then mark the old files for deletion upon reboot.

    Norton Update Center

Please try this method and let me know if you experience any problems updating.

    Thank you,
    Mike

I've just got around to dl'ing and installing ( attempting to  ) my upgrade to NIS 2010 from 2009 for my WinXP set-up.

    I have a legit 3 user key:

Really Symantec, what a pathetic puddle this is.
I want the install. exe or .iso or whatever from Symantec for a native install on this box and then want to take it to the partners box for an install: why is that so hard to do ?

I want to save the install file for possible future use if ( and when :D ) I bork my box and do a reinstall, or just want to do a clean reinstall.

As per above comments; there seems to be no simple path for getting same

Where on the symantec site is a link for a dl of the install file ??
    -not an automatic updater
-not reentering my details for 'trialware'

Is this really such an unreasonable request?
    Regards.

Do you really care where you get the file from? It can easily be had from softpedia.com.

    Hi Longboard,

As I had stated in my previous posting, the installer for the 2010 version of Norton Internet Security has the ability to do an in-place upgrade from the 2009 version. If you follow the steps in the Norton Update Center, it first downloads a small file that checks for the 2009 version and then prompts you to save or run the .exe file for the 2010 product, which is the full installer.

Since you want to save the executable file to transfer to another computer, please click on the link below and choose "Save File". This is the full installer for the Trialware version, which is the full product. When prompted during the installation, enter your Activation Key to activate Norton Internet Security 2010.

    Thank you,
    Mike

@Michael York: thx for reply: and nice to see you guys posting here. :)
    Thx for clarifications

I have gone ahead and done an inplace upgrade w'out issues: nice.
My venting above is directed at the 'opacity' involved in navigating the simple download of a labelled .exe file.

Correct, I dont care too much where it comes from, but, I would rather use the 'home' page for the dl than third party file/site.

The next "complaint" is the complexity of a simple subscription renewal. :p
Unless you are as savvy as me one might get a bit confused.
Took multiple pages for poor dopey me to get to where I thought I was meant to be and I actually wanted to give money!!
( never mind the billing error which is another story )
I know KISS is actually very complex, but imho the home page complexities and the indexing, need some sorting.
    Regards

PS NIS2010 seems to be going well here:
Still wants to rip out certain files I dont want ripped out: LOL, sometimes symantec does NOT know better than me.
    :D
