    Excellent :thumb: I noticed the hosting page is down too. Perhaps you could pm me a copy.
    Also, is it possible for you to include google checkout for accepting donations (I don't use paypal).
    Many thanks.

    I was finally able to download and install the new version. Still simple and user-friendly - the way an HIPS program should be! Excellent protection without consuming PC resources.

    No. AVG Identity is privacy software while PE Guard is a small footprint HIPS.

    Does this really work with Win7? It has blue screened two different computers after the install. And recovering the damage has been a real headache.

    The version on the website is still 1.2 (setup.exe in zip is dated Oct 12). I don't see the newer version o_O

    Hello You all,

    It seems that this one is the "old 1.2" release. It doesn't include the last features ("PEG.sys" in the installation directory, change the default installation path...).
    I wasn't able to access to opaida's website in order to download the software until today...
    He said he got some problems in one of his previous posts so I guess he probably updates the link to the last version as soon as he can. ;)

    @opaida
    Many thanks for the nice improvements and the kind message to the "WSF" members ! :)

    Ciao...

    PE GUARD v1.2 again

    Hi,
    Today, I could access the control panel and update the PEG v1.2.
    So, you can now download the last one.

    clocks
    To be honest, I didn't test it on Windows7 !!, but I read some papers about Windows7 structures and worked on them.
    In the first version I said it probably will work under windows7 and someone asserted that it worked. Also, I didn't change the main architecture of the program, so maybe the new features(like safe processes) won't work.

    THX all.:)

    Nicely done.
    Note: Upon popup alert, selecting "Apply to this process always", "ALLOW", seems no different than merely "ALLOW" (once).
    i.e.: PEG seems not to "remember" "Apply to this process always"?

    Edit: To clarify; "Apply to this process always", "ALLOW" applies solely to the initial instance of an .exe running, not to subsequent ones.

    Install Issue o_O

    @opaida

    Downloaded and installed your latest version (10.13.2009 version). Worked fine after the install...then fails after rebooting. Generates an error message during Windows startup: "The system cannot find the file specified". Uninstalled, ran CCleaner to purge registry entries, re-installed....same problem/error. Your prior versions (1.1 and 1.2) ran without any problems.

    Looks like something is broken with respect to where you are installing/locating files...or registry settings...:'(

    Re: Install Issue o_O

    I think you are right.;)

    AVZ says one thing about where peg.sys is located, which conflicts with C:\WINDOWS\System32

    See attached screenshots:

    P.S. I have yet to reboot, but I also, have set not to load at startup... so maybe I will not get an error.

    Good morning everybody,

    @Bob D
    From the "Readme.rtf" included with PE GUARD :
    Did You try to add the complete path of the process to the "pegconfig.ini" file ?
    If yes, does it still occur ?

    @galileo and Tarnak
    and those who get some problems when updating to the last release, please try the following method :

    1.) Disable PE GUARD (right-click on the PE GUARD taskbar icon, then uncheck "Enabled")

    2.) Exit PE GUARD (right-click on the PE GUARD taskbar icon, then click on "Exit")

    3.) Uninstall PE GUARD

    4.) Check if these registry keys are present and delete them (CCleaner doesn't do it) :

    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet00x\Services\PEG ("x" may be 3, 4...)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PEG
    5.) Delete "PEG.sys" in "%windows%\system32\drivers" if it's still present after the uninstallation.

    6.) Delete "pegconfig.ini" (that point shouldn't be very important though) :

    - It may be at the root of the hard disk drive (e.g. "c:\") in v1.1,

    - in the "Documents and Settings\YOUR-USER-NAME\" folder (old v1.2),

    - in "%programfiles%\OPS\PE GUARD\" (default path of the new v1.2)... This one should normally be deleted by the uninstallation process.

    7.) Reboot your computer (I didn't do it but it could be useful for some users)

    8.) Try to reinstall PE GUARD with the last 1.2 version.

    * "pe_guard_v1.2_by_ops.zip" MD5 : E54E7767FA7BF8F4E0B9ABCB8A69CE3A

    9.) Hope this will work for You...

    Ciao...

    I followed your instructions and it does install (to a point) with the latest version but when it's completed the first run wizard "finished" it won't open... if you restart the first run wizard sequence it just is a loop says it completes "finished" but doesn't and will not appear in system tray.

    No, PEG (v1.2 & v1.1) remembers the "Applyl to this process always", whenever you apply this option (at first instance of an .exe or at subsequent ones).
    I saw some cases like yours, but they are rare cases.
    You can test that again.

    galileo + Tranak
    There is no error!
    When you uninstalled the PEG v1.1, The PEG.sys was deleted by MSI.
    but the PEG service stills in the registry, because I install the service by firstRun.exe not by MSI. So, you must delete the service and then re-run firstRun.exe.

    NOTE: Delete the service from command line (not from the registry):
    Code:
    net stop peg

    then :
    Code:
    sc delete peg

    THX winHole7 for clarifying. :)

    Hello again,

    @pidbo
    I got this error too but, after a reboot, it worked... unfortunately, I don't know why. :D

    The opaida's method is the good one (mine was just a temporary poor registry h*ck but, as it worked for me, I posted it here in order to help...)

    @opaida
    Thanks for having told us the right way to correctly update your program ! :)
    Just two questions :

    - You told to Bod D that even if the "Apply to this process always." is checked and even if the Process ID is the same, "PEG" may alert us again. Is that right ? I thought that -same "PID"- means -no warning anymore- if the "Apply to this process always." was checked previously... Maybe a bug ?

    - Does the limitation to 20 processes within the "pegconfig.ini" still occur ? (I ask You that because it seems You remove the sentence from the Readme file)

    Bye...

    After rebooting, and getting this : [IMG]

    I then tried the following:

    [IMG]

    Then I ran the firstRun.exe, and finally was successful.

    I would appreciate if a mod would tidy up the images in my post above. I'm afraid if I try I will make it worse. :D

    Sorry, for any inconvenience.

    net stop reports that the service is not running
    sc delete reports SUCCESS that the service is deleted

    manually starting peguard now starts correctly and without errors...

    Thanks for following up...;)

    Portable Version update!

    - I have updated the protable version to overcome the cases like with galileo + Tarnak, i.e when the firstRun.exe runs, it will delete the PEG service and create it again.
    - Also you can now add the portable version in the startup programs.[ in previous one there was a bug].

    Hi again,

    Thank You for your responses !
    I just see that the mention about the process limitation is in the "pegconfig.ini" file and not in the Readme :rolleyes: So, please forgive me for the useless question...

    Could this limit be increased in a next release ?

    Another thing, a "Add to safe process list." check box on the alert window might be a nice improvement...

    See You soon,

    I think it's enough to have only 20 safe processes and that is better to prevent slowing down the performance.

    -"Add to safe process list.":
    Yes, I knew someone will suggest that..
    Maybe in the next version.
    THX.
