Still do. CIS is a wonderful product. I really do not understand the logic behind a person intention. A lot of products has similar license agreement; however, only Comodo gets picked on.

I don't think it should be a big surprise that these companies offering free products collect information. Comodo is certainly pretty vague in what they collect, though. I remember when they used Google Analytics in their help forum without notifying anyone. IIRC it was Stem or someone else who brought the issue up after noticing odd firewall behavior after visiting the Comodo forum. I believe the answer provided as to why this type of info was collected was because other sites do it too. Certainly not acceptable from a "security" vendor. And reminds me of another company that offers "today only" specials when it is the same "special" everyday.

As anyone can see Privacy disclosure and agreement is common practice among many security companies and yet some are trying to make Comodo pass for the devil, may God forbid.

 

so maybe Comodo should clarify exactly what personal data is collected like other companies spell out? So people, who care, can make an educated decision if it is worth it.

The only direction this thread seems able to go is speculation heaped on speculation mixed with touch of personal impression.

Anyone can read, or at least attempt to decipher, the EULA and make their personal decisions based on that reading. One can also weigh their own impression of the vendor's overall track record and render a decision on that basis.

If clarifications are desired, or opinions regarding the current situation are to be offered, the situation is really the same as for any other vendor - use the vendor's dedicated support mechanisms to obtain any needed clarification or to offer your own opinions on the matter.
