ESET NOD32 antivirus repeatedly detects and quarantines the following:
    Object name: “C:\DOCUME~1\v\LOCALS~1\Temp\Av-test.txt”
    Reason: “Eicar test file”
    1) Why does this thing keep coming back?
    2) How can I permanently fix this problem?

If the file keeps being created, it will keep getting detected and quarantined. What's finding it ? startup scan, real-time or a manual scan ?

    Hello,

I noticed you are using an older (v4.0.417.0) version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus. Please try updating to the current build (v4.0.467.0) and let us know what difference, if any, that makes.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

    :D :D :D This made my day ...

relax , this is Eicar test file created by ComboFix . It uses it if your AV scanner is active or not . Obviously , you don't turn the scanning off while running CF and that is why this message appears.

Stop using CF or when using it , follow its instructions (a.k.a. temporary disable NOD32)
