Avira is offering 10 months free when you purchase a license. So you should get 22 months for the price of 12. However I just bought it and got 12 months free. 24 for the price of 12. There is some confusion whether your present license is added too. I did not use the renew link, but just purchased the license and pasted it into the license management box. My old license was due to expire 15/10/09 now it runs till 15/10/11

I asked this on their forum but didn't get an answer, was wondering if anyone here would have an idea.

I am using the trial period and want to buy it. Should I buy it from the link on their website with the promo offer and reinstall or is there a way to get the license and then put it in the trial version I already have on my computer?

Right now I am running FSIS, and plan to continue. However, in a year when my FS license expires I might want Avira. It really runs well on my systems.

I wonder if I could buy the special, and not activate if for months or a year, and it would still be good for the 22 months?

    Regards,
    Jerry

Hmm considering it's a special promo I don't think that's possible but maybe I'm wrong though. Personally, I've never been in that situation before.

    Anyone?

    Thanks Dean,
I emailed their support and got an answer this AM that it would be OK to activate the license months later. Essentially that is what the forum thread you referred me to said.

    I appreciate the help.

    Regards,
    Jerry

    Thank You!

Thank you very much for posting this offer. I have been searching for Avira promotions and discounts, but I only found this one because I happened to log in to these forums after a long absence.

By the way, Avira recognized the termination date of my former license and added two years. I used the activation code, not the license key.

Thanks a heap! I renewed and got 24 months plus what I had left on my old license. I must say that Avira's payment/licensing system is one of the best I have ever seen. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

    Hi Bellgamin,
Did you actually buy a new license or renewed it? I renewed it at the beginning of the promotion but got the normal 12 months.

    Hello .
I am new here . No malice intended to bellgamin but , it is an easy system . However , to charge extra for the Auerbach Foundation is just wrong . Cannot remove it . It must be paid . Their marketing is false because , alomost anywhere you go , it says that a percentage of the sale of their products goes to this Foundation . Yet , they charge extra for it also . For this reason alone , I will not buy their products . I gladly give to charities but , not if I am forced . Just my 2 cents worth and again , no malice intended to bellgamin .:)
    Thanks

    @ falkor:

Would it be better, if they charge you more for one license (20 EUR) and then pay from this ammount that charity thing on their own? This would be the alternative don't you think? So where's the difference for you? You pay 20 EUR either this or that way. :) The way they are doing it is just more transparent because you know as customer what you are paying for. Maybe this has other reasons too (tax reduction comes to mind)? - That's my opinion.

And after using Avira 9 free version for quite a time I have to say: besides a great feeling while doing something good I got for this little money 2 years license plus additionally 30 days (trial). - That's amazing like the product (avira 9 premium) itself is: very light on resources and very good detection.

I would be very mad about myself if I had missed this special 10-years offer!
    :D

Considering that their advertising says a percentage goes to the Foundation, yes, I would like it better . And I would feel better paying $ 26.95 and a percentage taken out than pay $ 20.00 and be forced to pay into their charity . They are saying their product is $20.00 and that is all that should be paid . Again , read the first line of this post . You like the idea , I do not . It is misleading. 33% extra must be paid to a charity . And they give a percentage from the sale itself to the charity? To each his own but, certainly not for me.

I bought it, using the link in post #1. Avira then added it to my existing license, so I got 2 years PLUS the remaining time on my old license -- ergo, I'm good until April 2, 2012. (IF I live that long.)
