I disabled the protection via the "Stop Protection" entry in the popup menu.
I then started a program I was testing, and it was still blocked by prevx.

Could you see if you've put Prevx into "Install Mode" or actually disabled the protection? Install Mode will only disable some of the heuristic engines but still block known malware, which could explain what you're seeing.

Hm... no. Ionly used the tray icon and clicked "Stop Protection"...
Anyway, was not that important, just confusing because I thought "Stop Protection" stops everything.

When you stop protection, the first option is install mode which looks like protection is stopped, a different colour for install mode could be useful maybe? If you scroll you can choose how long you want protection to be completely stopped for, so it could be possible you had it in install mode and that's why detection still worked :)

If you open up the Prevx GUI by double clicking the tray icon (or using the start menu shortcut), you'll see the status bar as orange and the tray icon will show a triangle warning rather than the "full" disable which shows a red minus sign.

The bulk of the incompatibilities that a user would experience during the installation of a new program would come from the part of the heuristic engine which is disabled in "Install Mode", which is why we've decided to make Install Mode the default choice for disabling protection.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this!

When you right click the icon and press stop protection maybe instead of just the red colour block saying "warning" that could say "Warning Install mode" and be orange as default its clearer than a small icon change, its more obvious that you have not turned it off completely as well then have the description as normal below, some people who are new to prevx or just have issue with small print would benefit from that, then if you disable it beyond install mode show the red warning colour block and have it say Prevx disabled. Just a thought. Makes the programs behaviour more obvious, and if you are pushing this for ease of use to people who are not technically minded, it would make the setting state between install mode and off more obvious.
