BD just released a huge 27MB upgrade. Anyone has a changelog?

AFAIK Norton was never light. I've tried v 2009 and at first it seems light, but later with adding some security apps and after going online, i feel really slowing down on my PC.
G-data is dual-engine AV, and i highly doubt that ever was light on older systems ;) .
But older systems for me and older system for you are maybe two different things and maybe light years away.
And i know that different applications act different on different systems.

After i was ~ snipped ~ from BD, telling them how should they have to be more serious about their job, and after uninstalling BD ,and after sending too many crash logs to BD lab (they only didn't ask for ~ snipped ~ sample), they told me that new build would be released in the following days.
And as i've suggested to them to release one build per month with fixed old problems and bugs they said that they plan to that in future.

There seems to be a bug, even after this update. I cannot by anyway disable the encryption. It is always enabled after reboot.

Apart from that I do not see any issues.

Also has anyone tried BD products on anything other than .Net Framework 1.1? How about 3.5 SP1?

I"m running BDIS 2010 with 3.5 SP1. Everything seemed to be running very nicely until last night. I read your post about the 27MB upgrade, and decided to see if I got it. I opened the GUI, and there staring at me, was an error message about an update the couldn't be installed because BDIS could not connect. My last update was the previous evening. If I didn't open the GUI, who knows how long BDIS would have gone without updating. There should be a pop up notice, or a taskbar icon warning that virus definitions are not up to date.

I tried several times to manually update the product, but without luck. Since it was late, I shut down the computer. I figured I would contact support today. When I booted up today, BDIS updated normally. I'm still a little leery about what happened, and I'm considering uninstalling.

A 27mb update going out via the updater can cause a massive server load, possibly overload which is why it didn't update before.

Yeah, I thought about that too. Still think there should be some sort of warning pop up stating that the software hasn't been updated in "x" number of days.

Is there somewhere I can check to see if I received the upgrade? Is there a log file somewhere?

Yeh, warning would be a good idea.
I guess you can look at the update size somehow. I don't know unfortunately, don't use BD.

I agree. Graystoke, I installed it the other day or tried to and the GUI caused me such frustration, I ditched it in 10 minutes. It really kills me as I really started with them before Avira. We know they make a product that will protect very well, why can they not that make a GUI that protects you, from it.

Hi trjam. Yes, the protection is very good. It's the little things with BD that drive me up the wall. For that reason, it's been removed, and the protective "green eye" is back. Hopefully for extended stay this time. :)

Yes there is, right at the lower right corner, click on the View Logs link.

On the main screen you can click the Configure Status Tracking and put a tick next to Update status. After this you will find a warning on the tray icon if it hasn't been updated for a while.

Hi AMRX. Thanks. I some how missed the View Logs link in down at the bottom. As for the Status Tracking, I have a check in the Update Status box. For some reason, BDIS didn't notify me.

I noticed one problem with BD2010, severe disc defragmentation. Anyone else noticed this?

    +1 :thumb:
G Data IS2010 is snappy happy and smooth as silk on my "recliner browser" PIII/1GHz, 1 GB RAM laptop and on my old stand-by/test box AMD XP 1700+ 512 GB RAM. I don't even know it's there on this E8400 rig. WinXPproSP3 along with Threatfire and Zemana AntiLogger on all three.

Renegade08's older rigs (and possibly even his new ones) must be poorly configured and maintained. :shifty:
