Can't enter archive: Unable to enter the item

I'm trying to see what version of a file is in an archive in order to probably restore it, but I cannot access the archive to see what is in it or to select anything for restore less than a 2GB archive file


When using Volume explorer I get the error message "Unable to enter item." No apparent match for this error message on the internet.

Using: Drive Backup™, version 9.0, build 7267 (13.12.08 )Professional on Win XP SP3 etc.

I do what help says, but no good.

Suggestions?

I'm unclear what you mean by the 2GB archive file. Typically, archives are split in 2GB files; for instance, if a backup is 10GB, you will have 5 x 2GB archive files with subfix names (.000, .001, .002). However, the pointer file (PBF) is what you need to select when accessing these archives, regardless of size or how many archives files there are.

There's 3 way to manually dig into an archive and extract files or folder you specifically want:

1. Tools > File Transfer Wizard > locate the source and archive folder. It's normal to see multiple files, but the file we're looking for is .PBF. Double click the file and give it a few moments depending on its size. You will see the PBF file is drilled in and a subfolder is in place. Please navigate through the archive and highlight the files and folder you'd like to extract, and click the green left arrow.

2. In the "Archives" tab, similarly, on the top right file hierarchy window, locate your PBF file and drill into it by double-clicking. Right click folder/file you need to extract.

3. In the "Archives" tab at the bottom portion of the screen, your archive should be listed, if not, click the yellow cylinder icon with the green plus symbol. Locate your PBF file and add to list. Right click the archive and "Mount the Selected Archive". Assign a drive letter and a new virtual hard drive will appear in My Computer with read-only files.
