Been having a lot of problem with imon. It has problems shutting down. I reset the winsock several times, but this problem eventually comes up again. Since I am not using an email program but instead I use gmail from the website is imon a feature I really need to use? I would turn it off altogether to work around this issue, but not at the risk of security. Look forward to hearing your response.

    Hello,

Version 4 of the software scans SSL-encrypted POP3 and HTTP traffic, which is something NOD32 v2.70.39 does not do. You may wish to upgrade.

Thanks, but I don't wish to upgrade presently. Still looking for an answer to my original question about imon.

    Hello,

If you disable IMON, then objects received via HTTP and POP3 will need to be saved to disk before they are scanned for threats by the AMON modules. You also lose some protection against some worms, however, if they made use of older operating system vulnerabilities that you had since patched against, they would not be able to infest your computer.

There was a new release of ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.x today, which you could consider as well if you do not want to upgrade to v4.x. Its web access protection interfaces with the network stack at the transport driver interface (TDI) level, which is below the Windows socket library interface used by IMON in NOD32 v2.7.

    Regards,

Leaving IMON enabled will actually give you extra protection against new malware as well. However, v2 generally detects less threats than v3 or v4.

I'm running out of time here!

    Marcos:

I sent you a PM on a related matter.

Anyway, I'm on 2.7 and when I upgraded to V3 or was it 4 I suddenly had all the traffic passing through Nod rendering my FW filtering problematical.

This issue is not new it has been burning up post space for a long time.

Now I'm on XP sp3 and I need my FW to filter packets so can I do this with V3/4 or not? If so is their one reference I can go to to find out how to do this in xp sp3?

For me this is important since I understand the issue will not occur with Windows 7 but it is being "left" unfixed by Eset on xp (except for the work around I don't have in one place)

The other reason is my license expires in a day or so so I need to act or take a different route.

Please advise or refer me to the information . Thanks.

You asked me for a promo code for upgrade, but I have no clue what code you mean. Your current license allows you to download v2 or EAV v3/v4.

As of Vista SP2, http/pop3 traffic is no longer routed through a local proxy. Instead, Windows Filtering Platform is used which is supported as of Vista SP2.

Never mind about the promo code I was referring to the coupon code or discount when user pays for a new license. I've gone ahead with Version 4 Nod32 without a discount.

I no longer see the local proxy packet traffic with this version yet I'm on XP SP3 not vista. Did Eset change this for V4 and xp sp3?

I have Outpost Firewall Pro 2009 installed and have OP's real time disabled in favour of Eset.

But I have left OP's web control on as I have id data elements there to *** out when needed. So with Nod32 V4 I have left Web Access protection enabled as well. Is double web coverage an issue with these 2 products?
