You know why I opened this thread?

I saw the title "Torfox". I figured sooner or later SteveTX would weigh in with some earth shattering words of wisdom. I was not disappointed, the second post too. :)

I often wonder if there is any program other than Xerobank.

I like Torfox, I just installed it. It was painless. I read the Design Documentation and like the concept behind it. Of course I'm no security expert, but my impression of Torfox is favorable.

But dont they aim to do the same thing, ie provide anonymity online? So in that sense how do they compare with one another?

    Hi all,

    Download Torfox v3.0.11.2

I ticked all 3 possibilities on Options/Security; it is Almost Perfect, but I have here posting settings: HTML code is off. Why?

Connecting with wilderssecurity is long for me: waiting ... connecting ... ... Done.

I have now a problem of connection with wilderssecurity only- look on sysinternals thread, please.

    Thank you very much Torfox.

Anonymity - there we are! ( I use also anonymouse.org now).

PS. Torfox has a spelling correction (underlining) ... good!

I'm posting this from Torfox, not sure what you mean by "HTML code is off". The site looks slightly different because of no javascript. Could that be what you mean by HTML code is off. As an example the row of forum menu options at the top is different:

With Torfox: User CP, FAQ, Members List, Calendar, Search, New Posts, Mark Forums Read, Open Buddy List, Log Out

With Fx: User CP, FAQ, Members List, Calendar, New Posts, Search, Quick Links, Log Out

Speed is reasonable give the fact it's going through Tor servers.

Chrisretusn, now I know it's nothing that 'HTML code is off'. It is marked on the bottom left Wilders Page, in 'Posting settings'. Is OK., normal for us all.

hi i am helping tor trasnlate the FAQ page.I think the answer to your question would be the following few lines in your "torrc" configuration.

The chinese verion of tor's faq page will be finished in a few weeks. Its really long and I have just got my hands on it.:D

    [edit]
oh, According to the documentation, you must put both line together. one is for directory lookup and the other is for relay connection.

It appears that Torfox is built from Firefox-3.0.11 sources. My understanding is that Firefox has releases for Firefox 3.0.13 which will be supported until end-of-2009 for security fixes and Firefox 3.5.2 (latest release).

Would the Build Instructions for Torfox on its website that specify firefox-3.0.13-source.tar.bz2 work just as well? If so, then why hasn't Torfox been upgraded?

it seems torfox doesn't use the torrc config
and i find nowhere to set the proxy parameters.

    Any response?

EDIT: For those wondering I wish to know how torfox differs from a vpn like xerobank in terms of the anonymity it offers.
