What is your security setup these days?

Giving Look N' Stop 2.06p4, Prevx 3 and Mamutu 2 a try. Almost no resource usage at all with these three and so far things are nice and tight security wise...

 

Unfortunately, my 2nd experiment with SD (in shadow mode 24/7) didn't go well. My notebook hangs intermittently upon reboot - sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. I still couldn't figure out what's the conflict is.

So, I have to revert back to my previous setup.

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
Firewall: built-in Windows Vista firewall

Real Time:
1. Sandboxie (paid)
(forced browser & pdf reader, internet access to browsers only, reduced rights, read only access for c:windows\ folder)
2. DefenseWall
(trusted browsers, untrusted c:sandbox folder)
3. Prevx (free)

On Demand:
- Returnil (for testing & toddler proof)

 

Real-time:

Avast Free

KeyScrambler Personal


Passive:

SpywareBlaster

MVPS HOST (for ads in IE mostly)

WOT


Browsers:

IE 8 with tweaked Internet and Restricted Zone settings.

Firefox 3.5 with NoScript, AdBlock Plus, Better Privacy, Ghostery, and TACO.



OS:

Windows XP Home SP3 with hardening and tweaked services.

That's it for me, I'm done with virtual apps/sandboxes, anti-spyware apps (I MAY consider sticking an on-demand anti-spyware app on), HIPS and all that. The only change I know I'll make soon is when Avast 5 either goes Final or is polished enough to run for home use.

You can replace MVPS hosts with inprivate from IE8 itself.
It's great for ad blocking.

I have already worked with it, I found it to be quite poor as I still saw a LOT of ads that both NoScript and a HOST file gets rid of

Reasoning
LUA and SuRun work very well but I don't think I need it.

Anti-Executable.
Its near perfect against Drive-By-Downloads , but I think :
a) Recent browsers are much stronger against them
b) DMR limits any such programs very significantly.
c) Will use an AV to help here as well.

Been testing how Drop My Rights works with Browsers and very impressed with it.

No change ATM

All is as it should be with the combos of a single HIPS protection (EQS), 'Live" AV resident (Avira/ESET), Trust-No-Exe, SandboxIE, Returnil, etc.

Always backups are lodged in safe-keeping courtesy DRIVESNAPSHOT!

FailProof for me with zero issue in both imaging & restore capability as well as very timely. 100%complete satisfaction.

Trust-No-Exe when you have EQS to block Executables?
