I am considering using the combination of OA++ and Prevx on all of my systems at home. Is anyone using this combo? Is it sufficient security since neither act as a traditional AV? Any issues? I appreciate the help.
OA++ has A-squared which has the Ikarus AV engine and the both have high detection rates and with Prexx I would have to give you the up on that combo. TH
OA++ uses the ikarus antivirus signatures and engine besides asquared signatures and engine. (past it was kaspersky signatures and engine) i highly recommend you to do that for prevx to work efficiently with OA++. Double click OA++ icon, open main windows of OA++, on sidebar choose Main Menu->Options ->Exculisions, click add and choose the prevx installation folder. Uninstall prevx and reinstall it. That is all you need to do and believe me it is necessary. I can say that you have a good combination besides you may want to download some popular on demand scanners to be sure of your security status and to feel more secure, you can scan your computer once in a month with this on demand antimalware software.
Thanks for the replies. I have excluded Prevx from OA and OA from Prevx. I have SAS and MAM installed for on demand scans. Everything seems to be working fine. Not having a "standard" AV makes me feel a little naked but all of my machines are running great.
I use PrevX stand alone. I understand the feeling of beeing naked but let me tell you that this is not the case. PrevX protects you great. Only important thing is to disable the windows autorun to provide usb infetion while beeing offline. Thats all.
Thank, I will do that. Do you know if there are plans to support USB scanning in the future when offline?
I've been using this combination since OA AV++ release and they work fine. Just follow Papillon's suggestion and add each to their respective exclusion lists and it's smooth sailing...
