I love that it has Firefox and Mozilla protection and I like the other additions also. It sure is ugly to look at though now. So, I'm glad I don't have to look at it often. :) Why do all software developers seem to choose blue as their main color? Plus, it's not just the color but the entire look is tacky. But that is not important. What is important is what a great product this is! And it keeps getting better and better and that is awesome. I just changed some of my IE browser pages which I thought I had changed on my own ...but evidently not! Now they are changed so on the few occasions when I use IE I won't have it defaulting to msn for search!

I'm wondering how this version knew my previous settings and kept them. I uninstalled 2.6 before installing version 3 so is some preferences file kept like Firefox/mozilla do? I see that uninstalling the previous version doesn't get rid of the backup hosts file or the custom CLSID file.

i like the popup box that you get if you minimize explaining that this isn't necessary for the program to work properly. That is very good because many persons new to this application think it has to run minimized all the time so this is useful for them.

Hi, someone might want to look in at this MS-News NG.
There's a number of users that have installed the new build with lots of install issues and errors.

    SlimBrowser

    Hello!

I use SlimBrowser! It's based on IE, but I don't know, SpywareBlaster 3.0 can work in this browser correctly. Can you help me in that?

    Javacool,

Same problem as Big Allan P here......

Ver 3.0 installs but does not visibly run. However, Contorl>Alt>del shows Spywareblaster is running. Ran the Visual Basic Runtime installer without success. The auto-updater behaves in the same way, i.e does not apparently run but is shown as a running process in control>alt>del. Uninstalled Ver 2.6 before installing Ver 3.0, but have now reverted to 2.6, without updates of course!

OS is Win98SE, on an old K6-2 500 machine running Norton Anti Virus for Windows 95 (I kid you not, but fully updated, of course!) and Zonealarm free edition.

Quite bizarre. The software installed faultlessly on a similar machine running AVG Antivirus. Could this problem be due to a conflict with Norton, I wonder? o_O

    i have a question. it's problem, if i installed version 3,0 on top of 2,6,1 ?
it is better, unistall 2,6,1 then install 3,0 or it's no problem? if it's problem, why?

    Hi moin, and welcome. :)

Javacool does recommend a clean uninstall of older versions before installing new versions (see the first page of this thread, Reply #5).

Remember to UN-check the protection in version 2.6.1 before uninstalling it, reboot, then delete the old folder. Then do a clean install of the new version 3.

If you have any other questions, please ask and we'll help you with them. :)

    Regards,

    snap

    Thank you JAVACOOL... :D

Nice work and very simple to use...

Appreciated especially all the INFOS before applying a tweak...

    Nice, straight forward and efficient...

Many thanks again... and have a good day :D

P.S. - Installed it over 2.6.1 without problem

  11. Problem with browser recog

I do have a problem here though. I have Firefox installed, but Spywareblaster doesn't recognize it.... Well it might be the fact that I have my profile stored on a separate partition to have the bookmarks safe

When you find the time, I hope you will bring back the feature to hide CLSIDs from the protection list.

The new version looks great. What's wrong with Fisher-Price? *puppy*

    Hello:

Any response to these issues please? At this time, have NO Spywareblaster protection installed due to version 3.0 NOT WORKING and version 2.6.1 no longer supported. Is there ANY assistance we can have or just tell us to go away quietly![/b]

Thanks for the new update. I've gotten so used to having SpywareBlaster on my system that without I feel naked. I uninstalled 2.6.1, rebooted, installed 3.0 on Win98SE without a problem. My browsers are Firebird 8.0 and Mozilla 1.4.1 & 1.7. I like the new GUI but preferred the old black letters instead of the blue, it was much easier on the eyes. Thanks for a great piece of software! :)

    Hey ProfTacl

You mean hide the CLSIDs in the registry from being viewed?
Or hide the CLSIDs from the SpywareBlaster main block-list?

I was wondering if I had to leave SpywareBlaster running to have it protect my computer.

    Thanx

SpywareBlaster V3.0 doesn't see that I have Mozilla FireFox installed, so that protection is unavailable.

I believe this to be because I have my Mozilla Firefox profile on my 2nd hard drive instead of my 'C' Drive. I suspect that SpywareBlaster is only looking for the default profile directory.

Is There anything that I can do to fix this?

    thanks for a great program!

I am working as fast as I can to resolve issues with a few Windows 98 and ME systems.

I'll post as soon as more information is available. :)

    Best regards,

It looks like some of the latest Mozilla Firefox nightly builds changed the profile location. I'll look into this and hopefully add support for them in SpywareBlaster 3.1 (which also, with luck, should resolve the problems some Windows 98 / ME users have running SpywareBlaster).

    Best regards,

o_O I think I screwed up! Which is nothing new!
I uninstalled SWB 2.1 something, downloaded the new 3.0 and did the payment thing for the autoupdate, but failed to see if the hardware id# was the same and of course it wasn't, so I can not activate the auto update. Every time I open the program and get into the area where I would put in the serial number, the hardware id# is different. Grrrrrrrrrr...Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I have sent a message to the autoupdate support, but haven't heard back yet. But thought someone out there that is computer savvy can tell me how to "fix" my problem.....
