I have been using 2009 Home Image for quite some time but had to do a restore for the first time last night. Backup will time out on my ext HD so I copied file to internal HD. When I try and restore it comes up with "Specify a location for volume 1". I try to rety many times and eventually I will hit browse. Not sure what volume 1 is.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Erik

Incrementals consist of a FULL backup and all the following INC backups. When you select an INC file to restore from, TI must have access to the FULL and all the INCs in between the FULL and the INC you selected. An INC file is not enough to restore from.

I am having the same error, but for a different reason.

When I boot form the 9796 build (or pervious build) and try to restore a single partition from an incremental drive backup on an external usb HDD (I have tried 3 different enclosures/drives) to the internal laptop HDD, it fails giving the "specify location of volume XX"

If I then click browse, the usb drive is no longer mounted/available until I reboot.

If I verify using the boot disk (or a windows version) it succeds. If I remove the drive from the laptop and restore using another machine with an intact windows, it succeds as well. This BUG seems to be only in the bootable media.

If I manually consolidate to create a single file version of the backup set/increment I want to restore, I can get the boot cd to to work for the restore. Nice workaround if you have lots of time and disk space.

Let us know it it works for you.
