Sad to see that -- this is like the end of an era. I came here to learn and ended up staying because of the sense of community. In trying to help others who were having problems with TrueImage and Disk Director, I learned so much more about computers than I ever expected to.

Hopefully the community will migrate over to its new home. If not, I will miss everyone...

    Hello Mark,

I certainly agree with you and I feel the same about the learning experience. I've enjoyed reading your postings.

    Take care and 73's

I for one, will be going over to the new forum if it is going to be anything like this one. Hope to see all the regulars there.

I visit a number of forums, but the stuff I've learned here, much of it not directly Acronis related, has moved me on to a whole new plane of understanding.

I shall certainly be visiting the new Acronis forums and hoping we can continue the free and open interchange we have here, criticism and all.

Put another tick mark beside "Learned much more about computers" and another beside the "sense of community".

While it is a shame, I always thought having a separate forum not part of the vendor's site fragmented the support effort a bit but on the other side of the coin there was a lot of excellent, timely support provided by forum members.

I plan on giving the new venue a try. Hope everyone else does too!

    Hello all,

I'm going to post additional details about this migration a bit later; however I would like to clarify one thing regarding the new forums:

We're not going to change the spirit of discussion, we want to keep it the same - free and open for any opinions. All the comments are valuable. Sure, there can be (and would be) some comments with a negative feedback, but such comments are great source for new opportunities and ideas how to improve our products, our customer service, our development process and more. No way we will perform any moderation basing on 'Is this post good for Acronis or not?' criteria.

    Thanks,
    Michael

Well, after about 5 years and thousands of posts (and that being only a small effort compared to some of the regulars on the forums) there is some impetus to migrate. I expect the new forums to be open forums; that would obvicate the need for users to start another forum elsewhere.

Intersting that a closing date for the existing forums has been posted but an opening date and location for the new forums haven't been posted, but somehow that is sooooo Acronis ;)

That's just what I thought. Why even consider or announce the closing until the new one is up, running and bug free. How many of the valuable members here will disappear having grown tired of waiting for the new forum to become operational?

I am a big fan of Acronis True Image, used ATI Home 8, 9, 10, 11, & 2009. I am also a big fan of this forum, learned more than I expected about things I didn't even know I didn't know.

That's the good "news", the bad "news" I am not much of a fan of ATI Customer Service. After all these years I have yet to receive an email telling me of any updates, and their willingness to fix current versions appears to be non-existent.

The closing of the old before the opening of the new is not how I'd handle the situation.

Wilders Staff considered such a timely announcement necessary as a service for all Acronis users/posters. This way, the movement will not come as a suprise and all will be prepared.

According to our information, the new Acronis support forum will be up and running soon. An official announcement will be posted, coming with the relevant forum web address.

Paul - Thank you for the reply, but I'm sorry, it is still a very poor way to do business, IMO.

What about the person who may need help between "the end of this week" and "soon"?
Does Acronis really want them trying another backup software during that time?

    Paul,

My comments were not directed at the Wilders Staff. I have no doubt you were passing on valuable information when you thought the time was right to do so.
It’s Acronis I question. For them to close this forum without any indication as to when the new one would be operational is just plain wrong IMHO.

LOL … yeah, just like all the bug fixes for past versions that would be released “in the nearest future”.

Since we cannot take responsibility for Acronis, all we can say is "soon" would be in time. Meaning the new Acronis support forum is expected to be up and running as soon as the Acronis support forums over here will shut down.

Again I thank you for taking the time to reply, sorry if my reply seemed to be "aimed" at you. We'll see what the future brings.;)
