is this a lite version ? doesn't seem to have a lot of settings.

 

This is a light version, you can't change lot of settings..

This is strange thinking to the v3, i know

However, you get a generous trial time of three hours for free



But this version is like good old EQS, not like this light version before.



Like expected...



With many settings to choose from ... and some GUI glitches.



It's difficult to test it within three hours.
Who forks money out for this one?

About EQSecure v4.2 Professional Edition:

- There's no slowdowns
- There's no option to completely trust processes
- Rules names aren't displayed while prompted
- The English translation is very poor, as usual
- It's incompatible with MANY softwares

Test duration = ~ 2 hours This was enough for me. I'm glad i had a recent Win7 backup.

4. Alcyon's "EQSecure RuleSet v1.69.0523" (eqsecure.v3.41.winxp.rules.v1.69.0523-exp.zip)

NOTE- Alcyon's ruleset work with 4.2. It is developed for EQSecure v3.41, so may override unique rules that were introduced in v4.0+?

Sorry guys, there was one thing I never tested. 1. You should copy the image from the default official Eng.zip and add it to my English.zip file, this will translate the Chinese GUI image properly. 2..... 4.2 does not have an option to choose different language files from the GUI, so you must rename the custom English.zip to Eng.zip, and override the default file under %program files$\EQSsecure\Lang\

you may also want to edit the language files and search/rename all 4.1 references to 4.2

 

Are you sure Alcyon?

In 4.2, When you get an alert, if you click on "other options"
you have two choices "Trust this Application"
and "Remember this action for this parent process "

If the latter is checked, then you can still proceed to activate remember to block or accept... where as for "Trust this Application" it simply allows it and closes the window immediately.
How do you think the latter functions?

Could you clarify for us what you mean by software incompatibilities? Are these incompatibilities with the sandbox module or the Application/Registry/File Protection modules?

For many of us, software incompatibilities with the sandbox module shouldn't be a deal breaker since 3.41 didn't have one anyway.

Those who are fond of EQSecure and are looking to upgrade to Windows 7 are likely interested. Why bother learning a new HIPS if a user can transfer all of his previous settings into 4.2?

Unless there are serious issues with EQSecure 4.2 (which has yet to be confirmed), spending the time researching and learning another HIPS makes no sense.

Ok I see now. Sorry for the mistake... Using the default English translation doesn't help.
All in all, v4.2 is incompatible with a good amount of softwares so it's not very convenient.

I haven't identified the exact reason for the incompatibilities but one thing is sure, the problem reside in the low-priority monitoring mode and the application protection module.
