Restore choices?

I had occasion to restore an incremental backup (TI Home V11). The choices I have are 1) NTFS(C or 2) MBR and track 0.

I chose NTFS, and because all the hardware was different, had to do a repair on Windows XP.

The start menu doesn't have any of my stuff in it. Did I do something wrong, or is this just not going to work.

Why different hardware? TI Home is intended and licensed for use on a single computer. If you are attempting to restore an image to a different computer it isn't going to work. Not properly anyway.

 

Lightning fried the old machine, got the system disc. I had the image on another drive.

It actually did work. I had to do a repair install of XP after restoring the backup, but I'm back up and running. TI ROCKS!

Actually, you were lucky to transfer the system to a different hardware and to make the system bootable even with the help of Windows Repair tool. In the most cases it doesn't help.

If you want to transfer the system to a dissimilar hardware, you should use Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Workstation with Acronis Universal Restore
