Toshiba Hidden Partition (EISA)

Hi:

I´m trying Acronis True Image and i have some doubts!

I have a Toshiba Laptop that has to Partitions:
- Hidden Partition (EISA) with 1,46Gb
- C: (main - normal one) with 380Gb

My doubts are:

1) I´de like to do a Full Backup Image File from Toshiba´s HDD! Do i need to select Hidden Partition (EISA) too?

2) In case i had to Restore... does Acronis True Image can delete Hidden Partition and restore Full HDD from Full Backup Image File (with Hidden Partition included)?

3) ... or i must do a Full Backup Image File without Hidden Partition selected and dont worry with Hidden Partition because Acronis True Image dont touch it (what should i do)?

You have the option to select the entire disk, or just selected partitions. It is only a question of what you want your backup to contain.

Whatever you choose the MBR will be included in the image.

Imagine that i just do a Backup of C: Partition (NO Hidden Partition included)!
In this case, when i made a Restore HDD, what happens to Hidden Partition?
Its still there after Restore? Or Acronis will Delete it on Restore?

As long as you restore C to its original partition the other partition(s) are unaffected. ATI allows you to choose whether to restore a whole disk, only selected partitions, or only selected files and folders. Nothing else is affected as long as the disk structure is unchanged.

 

Resuming...

I could make a backup ONLY from C: Partition and...
... when i make a HDD Restore i will select to Restore only C: Partition!

That´s correct?

You might also want to make a bakcup of the entire disk because, if youhave a hardware failure of the disk drive, you'll need to replace the harddrive and the "hdidden partition (on the now defunct drive) won't be available.

Otoh, if you will rely solely on ATI and won't use the hidden partition anymore, you can empty it and add the space to the system partition - you can use gparted for this -- it's free.
