I just configured a new PC running Vista SP1, Outpost 2009 Pro and Eset NOD32 v4. All works well enough together but I have a question about why the Web Control feature is disabled in Outpost (grayed out, compatibility mode).

AFAIK the web filtering capabilities of ESET are totally unrealted to Outpost's, so I presume that is not the reason. I have also disabled the Windows firewall, UAC and automative updating capability, so I'm confused about why Outpost will still not let me use Web Control. Is it a Vista thing?

My last machine ran NOD32 v3, WinXP, and the same version of outpost pro and outpost's Web Control worked fine.

There are 3 ways to enable Web control
    1º Install outpost first
2º If nod is already installed, when you begin the Outpost installer it will tell you nod is installed so you uncheck the option for nod... in this way Outpost not install in compatibility mode
3º edit a file named *.ini ( i not remember the name) but it is discussed in some posts here in wilders... so make a search and probably you will find it.

    take care

When installing Outpost, it recognized that you have Eset NOD32 installed and due to possible conflicts with Outpost's Web Control features. This is more than likely a result of reported problems between NOD32 and Outpost.

I did install outpost after NOD32 but it's still a bit odd because I also installed NOD32 v3 before Outpost on my XP machine. I guess the compatibility issue lies with NOD32 v4.

I'll look into the ini file solution because Outpost's web control was fine with the previous version of NOD32.

Be advised that v3 is different from v4, you may or may not have problems, but there have been problems reported on Outpost Users Support Forum with NOD32 v4. Just do a search on NOD32.

yeah, started a thread there, too. From what I read, however, most of the problems relate to XP, not Vista.
