I see on ShadowServer their detection rates continue to climb. But yet not much is spoken here about them. They seem to keep chipping away and making improvements.

It doesn't look like much is going on. Almost no recent activity at their forum.

Vba wasn't a top tier av when I used it, there were some complaints of running heavy. But it wasn't a bad av and Vba was active as far as developing the program. The support was very good whenever I used it.

A small AV vendor whose market is predominantly in Belarus/Russia/Germany.

The AV is very similar to Dr Web; light footprint, good heuristics but with a very slow on-demand scanner. Probably TierII/III for detection but would do its job in a layered defense. Few FPs as long as paranoid heuristics are not set. Great support on the Forum from Dan, Mitya and Andrey.

As with all of the small vendors, just keeping up with the ever increasing malware threats is a full-time job with very little manpower left over for frequent, major upgrade versions ( check out Dr Web and F-Prot in this regard).

IMHO, still worth a look if you have a older computer.

they were always very nice and I still love their AV. And Dan is a big help. By no means would I overlook this AV in a layered approach as Blackcat said.

I think their market penetration, particularly in the west, has been very slow and they also face stiff opposition in their Home market.

The fact that the forum has been dead for awhile supports the view of few new users and a slow product evolution. Hopefully Dan will drop in and give us the latest ;)

Agreed. Avoid this AV if scan speed is a priority.
Other than that, I am sufficiently impressed such that I am on my third year of multiple licenses.
Unlike DrWeb, though, VBA32's GUI / program layout is pleasantly compact and succinct.
I emailed them regarding license renewal (in June).I received a quick response explaining that they were no longer dealing with their former internet sales partner (emetrix).
Attached with the email were keys for another year with comment that I would be informed of how to perform payment later!
    Now that's service!
(6 weeks later, still no instructions for payment).

Their website is in dire need of update (I posted concerns regarding same on the forum).
For those interested, VBA32 builds since Jan. (It appears they've been busy.)

I am not sure what their goal is as a company but if they want to make money they need to be known in America.

Nobody here never heard of this AV.

If they can make SIMPLE SIMPLE SIMPLE product such as Microsoft Antivirus and make it free for 2-3 years I am sure that would pay back in the future.

So simple and easy MODERN web site, FREE product (such as DrWebCureIT), and SIMPLE/light software.

Average used that is going to purchase a software needs 4 buttons: QUICK SCAN - UPDATE - EXIT - SUPPORT, thats it!
I used to live in Europe and people tehre respect software with many features, here on west majority of market needs SIMPLE and 2-3 click and DONE products.

See MalwareBytes, 2 year ago nobody heard of them and today they are favorite application for many users, if only 5% of users purchase a licence they still make money.

I used to beta test VBA32 and folks overthere have nice ideas and potential but they need to research market and apply results of that research.

Their beta versions may still be available for free (upon request).
They also freely offer their Vba32 Rescue Live CD.

Vba32 was in correspondence of Vista very much.
They should make quick correspondence to Windows7 of the schedule put on the market this autumn.

I'm sorry that I don't understand the content of your post, however, Windows 7 and Vista are currently supported.
Sadly, VBA32's website, in dire need of update, is sadly lacking succinct info regarding supported platforms.

    Cheers

Just FYI folks Virusblokada LTD and VBA32.de are no longer a partnership.

Hopefully the new rep in Belarus will have some more information.

Those of you who purchased vba32 from vba32.de are able to request support from support-en@anti-virus.by as always.

Bob at this point in time I don't think there will be any partners in Germany, as for web based support I cannot answer that. I am hoping that Oleg chimes in here sometime on monday.

The Forum has been down for at least the last few days. Is it now dead or will it be resurrected?

So there is no longer an official forum?

It's a shame as support was top notch. Will Mitya drop in here?
