Panda Global Protection 2010 released? Seems that “2010” is starting earlier and earlier in “2009”….

    :)

This is one of my bugbears with products using the following year so early in their release cycle. If the programs were released Oct/Nov/Dec then it seems logical to call them next year's product line. But this time of the year? I don't think so, but we're getting so used to seeing marketing decide this is the way to go.

Perhaps they're really this year's release; however, it's too late to change the dates as once you start the cycle with one, it's hard to break unless you change the timing of releases. If it wasn't for the year notation, we'd have build numbers - version, 8, 9 etc.

I noticed that Panda still won't let current license holders UPGRADE to the new 2010 version, you have to renew:blink: :cautious: My Avira license had 5 months left when version 9 came out and upgraded with no problem...:thumb: :)

Don't quote me on it, but I think it depends on how long ago you purchased. So if you purchased <= x months ago the upgrade is automatic and free, but I don't know what "x" is. I'll ask our people in marketing.

Pretty poor considering some other Sercurity companies will allow their customers to upgrade for free on a current licence.

anyone try it out yet is it really as light as they claim it is.. panda stuff was wayyyyyyy to bloated in the past years with a reminder of the old norton ways.. is this as big of a improvement as symantec made with the 2009 lineup? not a overall comparison here just wondering if they made that big of a leap with the way the program runs like symantec did..

Good Evening! Merely a price point observation! It's supposedly a Global recession. Their pricing at $94.45 for one year is totally out of sync, with the value that other vendors provide. Stay tuned for 2011! This pricing is based on Canadian Currency Conversion Ratio. Sincerely...Securon

That’s true for users of Norton Internet Security. With an active subscription, users are entitled to both updates as well as all upgrades (e.g., from the 2008 edition to the 2009 edition) at no additional cost.

Without compromising on security? This is a humongous claim!

I remember one thread where a lady from the sales posted here saying that it IS possible and the only thing we have to do is to ask for it. I will post the link here if I find it.

    *Edit*

My mistake, I didn't remember the post properly. Here is the post.

PC Mag reviews Panda 2010. Rates 3 stars (out of 5).

Meanwhile Panda has released AV-Test.org results which show Panda 2010 is better light.

Well, IMHO I wouldn't trust PCMag to much. They're tests are most of the times ********.
Panda was always a nice AV and it became time that they made it less recource heavy.

They wont let you upgrade, their pricing is totally ridiculous, and they are middle of the pack in detection. So whats the problem! Same ole Panda.:thumbd:

Thanks XP, but I think a good BB is as good as HIPS in some circumstances.

Does Panda have HIPS. At that price it should wax my bike.

    .
Regarding price, Panda software as well as Symantec and other brands can often be bought online for less then quoted retail. For instance Panda Global Protection 2010 (PGP 2010) can be ordered from Frys.com for $69.99. Also PGP 2009 can be ordered from Newegg.com for $47.99 (and apparently upgraded for free). Bargains can be found so I wouldn't focus too much on the higher retail price.

this is true and I should say that. The upgrade issue though does perturb me.
