I'm a long-time Acronis True Image user (currently using Echo Workstation) with 5 PCs saving their full & incremental backup images on a network share. We're evaluating ABR 10 Workstation (not advanced) and have run into a problem during testing.

Using ABR 10, we successfully created a backup image on a network share, but are unable to mount that same image because the Mount Image screen doesn't allow us to indicate that the image resides on a network share.

    Here are the specifics:

When creating the backup plan, "Where to back up" displays a folder tree that includes a "Network Folders" item. This is what we used to specify that the image should be placed onto the network share. (And the image was indeed successfully created and placed there.)

However, when selecting "Mount Image" and then the "Source" item, the folder tree does NOT include a "Network Folders" item! (It has items for all the other normal locations, but not "Network Folders"!)
Noticing that the folder tree has a "Local Folders" item, I tried mapping the network folder to the Z: drive. That allowed us to now see the desired .TIB file, but selecting it resulted in an "Invalid vault path was specified" error message.

I've read the user guide and the backup section mentions specifying a Network Share, but the Mount Image does NOT mention Network Shares!

Am I missing something or is it not possible for ABR 10 Workstation to mount an image that resides on a network share? I can't believe this is a product limitation, but if it is, it's a show-stopper for us.

    Gary,

I ran across this also and went snooping throught the KB and found that it is a known issue.

    Here is the link.

I'm not sure why they released it will so many known issues!

    Thanks for the link FBMachines!

As a former developer and QA tester, I'm aware that the 1.0 version of any new product can have a number of problems, but after following this forum and the number of fairly basic issues that have surfaced, I have to agree with a growing sentiment that we are doing beta testing.

What's even more frustrating is the lack of response from Acronis when a problem is reported. Even if you don't have an answer, at least acknowledge the problem report!!
