I have DD10 on my HD & created/formatted my Win 7 RC partition from there.

Win 7 ran ok but when I tried to install my antivirus/malware software I kept getting the corrupt disk messages. I thought it was the software install & then found that though I could download Win 7 updates, I was unable to download files from other sites.

A MS Win 7 forum posting raised the Acronis DD issue. So I used the Win 7 advanced tools to delete & re-create the partition, which seems to have worked fine.

I had thought that a partition was a partition, but a read of this thread has enlightened me!

This is an interesting snippet from A Microsoft Technet newsletter (sent to the UK).

"Second, Windows 7 is not an in-place upgrade. Customers who are still on Windows XP have known such an upgrade was never going to be an option, so only customers with Windows Vista will be affected. If you want the option to use bitlocker it will be necessary to repartition your disk (Windows 7 partitions disks to be bitlocker-ready).

What they mean by that statement is that the Windows 7 installer, when installing to an unpartitioned disk, will automatically create a separate boot partition followed by the main Windows 7 partition.

One of the complaints about bitlocker in Vista was that you had to create the separate boot partition manually. If you already had Vista set up and all of your programs installed, this became a hassle and often required a reformat and reinstall.

I don't think the statement has anything to do with new and different ways for Win7 to create partitions. My Win7 installation is to partitions that I created with Disk Director but formatted by Windows tools to avoid the issue in this thread.
