What Anti-phising do you use?

I use F-Secure Internet Security 2006 and as an extra I use a registered version of SiteHound on Internet Explorer.

 

My judgement + Nod32 are probably enough.

 

You'd be suprised Osaban how many computer savy people are fool online every year. I'm talking CEOs, Technicians, Engineers...

So far, common sense although PhishGuard is downloaded to desktop but might never be installed.

In addition ....

ViewHEAD 1.0.5 allow's one to view hidden HTTP server response codes for a given URL, available from http://www.pc-tools.net/win32/viewhead/
ID Serve, available from http://www.grc.com/id/IDServe.htm is another useful, simple-to-use internet server identification utility.

I could not of course omit Proxomitron's mighty log window, which includes HTTP header messages sent between your browser and the internet,
one of it's many useful feature's. Mind you these are NOT anti-phishing utilities in general terms but can aid in determining site authenticity.
An understanding of basic HyperText Transfer Protocol coupled with P2K's brilliant ~ should be sticky ~ "The dangers of HTTPS" will help.

As for my answer, currently NONE.

I'm aware that anything is possible but rather than savy I would consider myself as paranoid with these matters. I can't be 100% sure, it is true, but I've been doing on line banking for 5 years, and my bank (any bank as far as I know) would never ask for confidential info through e-mails.

As for E-mails in general, I open them in a virtual environment and save them only if I know where they come from, the slightest hunch that something might be 'Phishy', it's a quick reboot and gone forever (slightly time consuming, but safe).

Ditto here too and I have no common sense at all and good jugdement is almost non existent .

That's good to hear, but what do you do about DNS spoofing, Link Hacking, Man-in-the-middle, proxy watching and so on? It's good that you are careful with your emails, but slightly over 25% of online crimes are unrelated to emails...

 

Not exactly an anti-phising tool, I use the Show-IP extension with Mozilla.
Except for one e-mail account that's a deliberate spamcatcher, my e-mail is clean.

Same here. One of the early alpha versions, but it's stable and reliable. And I don't believe I've ever seen any available upgrades for it.

 

None actually, I turn off the one in Mozilla Thunderbird ...


You see, in general, I don't use bank-cards, Paypal or whatever such service. And I rely on my knowledge, while additionally I am not paranoid in this area of computing; therefore, for instance, I rather use the Windows XP SP2's in-built firewall than a 3 party one, since I am quite content with its basic but robust and reliable outbound filtering and so on ...


/EDIT: Oh, and I voted for the "Others...pls specify" option !!


I use real-time AV's protection only when I am on-line (yeah, I am still on dial-up), I don't use various "anti trojans", "anti-spyware", "process-guard" etc. type of programs simply because when I used them, they didn't find/prevent anything in all the time. I even uninstalled Ad-ware and Spybot because I was annoyed by always scanning the system and finding nothing at all. In my case, they are a waste of computer's resources ...

None, never recieved a phish mail or whatever it is.

 

I was a bit skeptical about SiteAdvisor at first but I guess it´s a nice idea (still don´t like to have a toolbar though) but I do like the Search-engines alerts, scandoo.com now also offers a similar service. Email phising is not really a problem for me, but a tool like Iconix eMail ID does sounds interesting.

I myself use none, but I do have myWOT installed for the family PC.
For the rest IE8 and Opera have excellent anti-pishing capabilities, nevertheless I have never been scammed before on the web except for not reading the EULA carefully

Other: I put my financial institutions into my host file, that way I jump straight there instead of using ANY dns server.

Common sense is a good answer, however I also have fraudeliminator installed in IE which I rarely use nowadays in favour of Opera browser with 'fraud protection' enabled.

OpenDNS here as well, and Opera which features like 2-3 Anti-Phishing engines alone + by now also HauteSecure if I got all things right (I'm sure about HauteSecure though ).
