Error in starting Acronis OS Selector Reinstall Service

I'm getting the following in Windows 64 Home Premium Event Viewer:

Event id 7022
Source: Service Control Manager
The Acronis OS Selector Reinstall Service service hung on starting.

I'm running Acronis True Image 2009 Home. My only operating system is Vista 64. I did not create an Acronis Secure Zone.

When I tried to start the Acronis Selector OS Reinstall Service manually, it also hangs.

What does the service do? Would its failure affect any backups or restores that I do? Any suggestions on how this error can be eliminated?

 

Do you have DD installed? If you're not using OSS, I'm pretty sure you can disable that service.

In any case, that service shouldn't affect any TI backups or restores.

 

What are DD & OSS?

 

DD = Acronis Disk Director
OSS = Acronis OS Selector

 

Thanks. I forgot that I installed Acronis Disk Director a couple of weeks ago. I never really used it, so I uninstalled it. The error disappeared along with the program.
