Does ShadowProtect Desktop have a command-line interface for scheduling a Backup without using its internal scheduler ?

... I am looking for a Backup Pgm that I can run its Backup either with Win XP Task Scheduler or a 3rd party task scheduler ? Heard good things about ShadowProtect Desktop, but does it have a command-line interface to run its Backup process ?

That may have been answered on the Storagecraft forums. I don't know as I never had a need.

I am almost ready to buy SP but I am concerned that there has not been an update in many months as far as I can tell. Also there some outdated links / missing sections on their website.

For example, click on this link:
    http://www.storagecraft.com/shadow_protect_desktop.php
and then click "User Guide" on the left... it points to v3.2 intead of 3.3. Simply changing the URL from "2" to "3" gives you the correct version, but why haven't they fixed this-- it's been almost a year since 3.3 came out as far as I can tell!

Or, right from their homepage, selecting the following link from the menu:
    http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/1647/sshot248.png
results in this "Under Construction" page.... this is straight from their homepage....

So I am a little worried since its one of the most if not the most expensive disk imaging apps around and I would hate for them to disappear or drop support right as Windows 7 comes out.
    Can anyone comment on this.

    Hi Luckman

I checked all the links and they worked fine. No updates, as I suspect they are working on Windows 7. My XP version, still just ticks along just fine.

I don't think you have any fear that they will be disappearing.

Did you try the link I gave above? It points to an under construction page for me. And the user guide they have linked is definitely still to the old 3.2 ver.

Not show-stoppers but it raised an eyebrow for me. Glad to hear you're confident they will be around for the long-haul. :)

If you read user comments on SP, you will see remarkably consistent feedback:

    - is stable and reliable

    - doesn't have the bloatware that has been stuffed into competing products (which often does not work)

    - yes it is expensive relative to other competing products (as I recall, they do offer a discount on 3+ licenses)

As far as their website goes, I rarely visit it. I had two questions that I submitted to them by email when I first acquired it, and they were answered in a reasonable period of time.

    I have no complaints whatsoever.

Another vote of confidence for this remarkable program and company. As far back as 4 years ago when ShadowUser was an important program for Storagecraft, their website has been often criticized for inaccuracies.

As far as updates are concerned they were quick with 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3; I think Peter is right, Win7 might be the reason for the slowdown. Their forum is sometimes slow, but if you query them as a customer (submitting a key) you get a quick and expert answer.

I don't think you will have any regrets. And if you need help, they have a forum, and we can help you here.
