I want to exclude certain file types from av checking. The files could be located anywhere on any disk, so they can be identified only by extension, not by path.

    How can I do this?

Thanks, but that's exactly what I DON'T want.

First, I want to avoid specifying paths, and second, I'm talking about realtime protection, not on-demand scanning.

I want to exclude from checking all files like *.ext, wherever they are.

    Yes of course.

But I might have missed something. You seem to think I did. Would you mind posting a link?

    Hi Paul2,

Open the Advanced Setup tree > Real-time file system protection > Setup > Extensions.

In this window remove the check from "Scan all files". If the extension that you want not scanned is in that list, highlight it and click remove.

If it's not in that list it shouldn't be scanned by the Real-time scanner.
