How secure are the default settings?

What is a good rule of thumb to indicate a user needs to "harden" the settings? In other words, why even mess with advanced settings unless instructed to do so?

Other than the ESET pop ups that occasionally occur when changing settings, are there any other considerations?

What are the best settings to harden the security, yet not overtax resources?

If a user is not very experienced, can more damage be done to security than good, when tweaking the advanced settings to harden security? And, if so ... what is/are the most common mistake(s)?

If you feel you can only answer one of these questions, Please Post !!! Thanks in advance !!!

    Hello,

The recommended settings are the default settings which provide a good balance between performance and detection capabilities.

    Regards,

    Mark.
