After a mother board failure a clean install was required.
I have a True Image 2009 back up on an external drive which will not open because "The selected file is not an Acronis*True*Image*Home archive"
I think I am trying to open the image with an earlier version of true image.
I had paid for Acronis Extended Download Service but could not find access to it.
So I downloaded a trial copy of True Image 2009 but it will not accept my serial number. Nor will it install as a trial version.
    I have a mess. Can anyone help?

    AndyJ,

If you haven't already registered your True Image software you can do it here.

Once you do, you can download a current build that is valid for you version.

Haha, I live in the South East as well! :)

If you've only ever had TI 2009 then 2009 should open all build versions.

If indeed you do have TI 11 or earlier, then your error message sounds correct.

Just as a note - the extended download service is actually Digital River trying to get extra money out of you. Once you've registered your serial number with Acronis, you will always have access to the latest build of whatever Acronis software you've purchased - and serial numbers.

If you find that the Acronis website won't accept your serial number for v2009, then you may be one of the unlucky people who received invalid licence numbers and you'll need to contact support to get it exchanged or find the link provided by Acronis in a post here somewhere to the auto licence number updater.

    Hello all,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

    AndyJ,

Have you validated the archive after its creation? If not, please check the integrity of the archive, it looks like the archive file is corrupted. Also, you can send me the serial number via PM, I will check the license and will let you know why the trial copy doesn't accept it.

    Thank you.

I ended up downloading TI 2009.
Acronis support then helped me remove all bits of earlier versions. They then helped me instal and I was able to open the file.

    Hello intrax,

Could you please be more specific with this situation? Could you please provide me with the exact sequence of actions that lead to the issue you report, so that I can reproduce it?

Which file are you trying to install? Please give us the exact name.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

    Thank you.
