I think our "crys" are falling on ears that are about as good as the alien's in your avatar :)

Perhaps they think it will "go away" yeah perhaps, with the customers!!!! Eset realise that Optus is the 2nd bigest ISP in oz, so it should be a concern!!!

At MINIUM perhaps if you can't workout what the issue is setup a proxy, if you like password it with the NOD licence code and provide install instructions for configuration? (just a sugestion)

Just for the record: rodzilla is the main Eset representative from Eset over in Australia. Thus, your remarks do not go unnoticed at all. Just to pout things into real perspective.

    regards.

Hmmm . Just noticed this thread.
I too thought that my updates were comong down the pike
with no worries what so ever. Set it and forget it.
I don't get a chance to use this PC very often as junior is
    on it more than me.
Well I just checked the update log and noticed the same thing
the rest of the posters are having issues with.

I've tried to use the "update now" button with no success what-so-ever.
the last update I recieved was March 17, 2004. Can't update to current.
Do we have to remove the old file to recieve the new one?
Can someone recommend a simple workaround for this so we can all
enjoy the latest protection against the baddies.

    Take care

I'll post a screenie of the event log.

Last week I had dozens of failures for every actual update. (Using iinet ADSL1500.)

This week is a whole new ballgame ... I'm on a roll ... not one failure since 17 March.

    RJ100,

Please give uninstall/re-install a try, and take it from there. Keep us posted.

    Thanks for the response Paul,
I tried your suggestion and seem to have fallen a little further back.
Uninstall went really well, as did the re-install. However after Nod32
thought things over for a few seconds, it showed me a box that said,
Error occured while updating program modules (cannot replace the current file)
So I tried the forced "update now" and kept getting the same box
    popping up over and over.
Since the program showed me a file from Dec 12, 2003 I decided to
uninstall Nod32 again and install Panda for now so things are current.
I'm kinda at a loss as to what the issue is.
I am by no means upset at this, just a little confused. :doubt:
After all its the copy I won fair and square for the 5000 member contest. ;)

    Take care, Ray

Hey all. I am new to Nod32, as Norton has dissappointed me greatly. I am in the process of evaluating Nod32 for my company, and so far haven't had the issues mentioned.

Not sure if it makes a differance, but I am located in the southern United States. (Louisiana)

After reviewing my logs, I see no indication of any failure to update.

My internet connection is a Dedicated T-1 via Bellsouth. (Major Telco)

Good luck to all who are having issues.

    Sorry everybody not understanding Portuguese.

    At http://babelfish.altavista.com/, you can translate
a block of text from Portuguese to English.
Just paste > translate. You will laugh with the
translation, but will get the point, eh eh

    Regards,

Thank you spoof, I guess thats a work around but for now I have switched to manual and i physicly check for updates 5 times a day. when one becomes available I manualy kep trying till i get one that works, this can be 3-7 times. Oh boy I love automation. I love NOD32 too much to get pissed over this but I sure am concerned that NOD32 people other then Rodzilla are duck shoving this problem. I can cope with most things but not that.

    thanks for you advice spoof

An Optusnet user who had been having trouble getting NOD32 updates told me a few minutes ago that he has had zero failures since he started using a proxy server last Monday. (Apparently you can find heaps of public proxy servers on the Internet.)

Thank you rodzilla, yes I will check it out this afternoon once I take the last barrow of mulch to the garden. However I see this as a work around for now and I'm hoping that NOD32 People in Europe are on the case and making there server more universal. Other wise it will not take long for the noise about this to get out amongst the security Nerds and the product will be looking less attractive as a robust option for buyers. The internet is full of bad ISP connections I'm sure Optus is not the only one. I’d like to be on local Broadband myself but alas despite the Governments comments that Telstra is up to scratch in the bush, I don’t have Broadband yet, and they don't intend to upgrade my little exchange in the near future.

So thanks for the help I will chace those proxy’s up soon and see how that goes....

I must have put a curse on myself!

This afternoon I've been having update problems with Spybot S&D, Ad-aware, javacool's stuff, and even with windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

This has to be down to a connection (ie: bandwidth choking) problem. My PC is OK ... and I doubt that all those remote servers would be playing hard-to-get at the same time.

    :(

Edit ... and Wilders is a slow as a wet weekend! :(

FIRST PROBLEM: because my email address was incomplete the whole message was zapped ... thanks a lot.
SECOND PROBLEM (really the first problem): I have been getting infected emails (intercepted by NOD32) for a couple of weeks at least. Finally got sick of it and decided to make sure NOD32 was up to date (automatic updates enabled). The event log revealed that 'Downloaded file [has been] damaged' for the last week or more!!! Why wasn't I toldo_O There has been no indication that updates have failed; I believed I was properly protected. There should have been some alert from NOD32 to say that the downloads had not been completed.
Don't get me wrong, NOD32 has been saving me from a lot of mischief, both at home and at work, for quite a white and it's a great program, but this seems to me to be a failing.
I would like to have been able to address this message to a support centre instead of a user forum but that option doesn't seem to be available.

    As I posted before:

Choose a Proxy Server from this list: http://www.aliveproxy.com/
Now, go to Update > Setup > Advanced > Proxy Server > Setup and fill in the IP Address and Port. Click OK > OK > OK > Update now.
    It will update.

just verify that the folder updfile exists and if files from this folder are/not read-only. Should be not.

The above is only for whom try to update his product and answer is error replacing file...

I have experienced this when I've tried to copy udated files from a station already updated to a new instaled one, wired to dial up. CD copy was read-only, so after a deactivate R atribb AND I was connected ~1minut, this new instalation was recognized as updated one.

just reading through everything before i actually install nod32, i'm with optusnet and tpg and i spend most of my time connected to optusnet, so i'm not going to bother until this is sorted out

    why don't nod32 contact optusnet?

why isn't optusnet aware of this problem? how many optusnet subscribers actually use nod32, obviously not many if its still a problem...

    Hi blerg and all,

Eset (NOD32) has contacted Optusnet and they couldn't reproduce the problem. Is anyone at Optusnet still having this problem?

    Thanx., :)

Have disabled the proxy that was in use, will let you know if updates fail.

Surely the NOD32 update client does some sort of error checking if found requests a resend? Why download, say its bad and do nothing hmmmm.

12GB a month, including "free" Bittorents and ALL files work, so im sure if somehow Optarse was able to pass bad data to its users one would here of it on whirlpool and one would experience it in other apps.

Still fails without a proxy engaged. Not very good, i wonder how many THOUSAND (would have to be this many?) Nod users are on Optus?
