its a manual download link so its fine.

if you want java for 32bit and 64bit browsers you need to install both versions.

Try copying msvcr71.dll into your Opera directory and see if that helps.

My favorite browser now is KM........but its too complicated & confusing for a senile doc to learn at this stage.

IE is a hogger even with 4 gigs of memory.

KM is fast, secure & light.

    My personal thoughts!

K-Meleon is very configurable. That said, you don't have to learn to tweak every setting. It works quite well with its "out of the box" settings. Most of the usual adjustments are in the "preferences". Just set your basic choices there and look into the rest of its options whenever you feel like it.

Thanks for your kind words of encouragment.

    It's fast, light, secure.

Possibly with time & usage will get familiar with it.

    Regards!

Opera for Windows does not use Java, but an embedded version already inside the Opera Web browser.
Opera for other platforms may supports Java . Please consult your Opera platform documentation.
For further information, please review the following Opera Support article:

Curious as to what issues with what browsers you have tried. Knowing this could go a long way in suggesting\helping.

Have tried K-melon, Opera, IE 5 through 8 and a few others. For a short time I used a script only browser as well for the increased security. Always wind up back on Firefox. Tweaked for each specific PC using add-ons and via about:config.

Granted, if you are not a tweaker and only want to run a browser out of the box then this is not a solution for you.

Concerning your java problem. Do not ever recall experiencing it with Opera when I used it. Have you tried posting here or reading here for a possible solution?

    @innerspace,

I have KM installed with autoloader.exe.

Any custommizations that I make that would need a restart would require to shut & restart autoloader.exe........how do I do that?

Thanks.........IE8 & KM are my browsers.

Anything that has to do with browsers and their add-ons or plugins shouldn't need a restart as far as I know.

Here is a tutorial link that may help. http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/Tutorials

Let us know what your trying to do and we will try to help.

    Hello innnerpeace,

    Hope you are doing great.

After learning a bit about KM did an image restore to the point before installing KM.

I learnt a little about KM, uses of auto loader, how to add macros for a super restart, how to add macros for IE style favorites.

    I have a few queries:

    1. At the moment have only IE 8 installed on this XP SP3 machine...I feel IE is a hogger, though have 2 GB of physical ram. I like KM & want to install it with autoloader.....hope it won't conflict with other browsers…….....with IE 8 I know it doesn't.

    2. Auto loader. exe icon near the clock has the option of config > where should it be set, default Balanced/ power /extreme?

    3. Do you feel I should have a 3rd one besides IE & KM, if yes what’s your suggestion & why?

    4. KM is light, fast; secure......has Spyware blaster protection enabled, Java 6 Update 14 & its own flash player.

    5. How can one make a back up of Favorites………in KM or IE?

    6. KM integrates with IE............I like it very much but not many people speak about it....with auto loader & macros it's a very versatile browser & in my view better than G Chrome, Opera & even FF?

    7. I use Secunia PSI too.

    Hoping to hear your thoughts,

    Regards,

    Doc.
