KIS2010 build 9.0.459 got 96% and ranked at 2nd in the champion chart of Internet Security Suite for windows box.

It still does not stand against local brute forces attack?
    - the terminator: Kill3f attempts to terminate the tested product's processes by sending them all possible types of windows messages.
    - the terminator : Crash7 checks whether malicious software can crash the tested product by allocating all the available memory in the system.

    - Spying with SockSnif : binds to a local network interface and enables promiscuous mode on it. This allows SockSnif to spy on all the network traffic that goes through the given interface.

quoted from Kaspersky Proactive Security Challenge report (pdf)

Also I don't think any of tested programs passed crash7, Kill3f should be prevented, last time I tested (in beta) KIS passed that test o_O

How the heck Outpost Firewall Free 2009 gets a better result than Outpost Security Suite Pro 2009? o_O

Amazing and interesting... Agnitum released a free product scoring better than the paid one!

Are you sure RIS Internet Security 2009 21.45.04 was tested and was that tested with Rising PC Doctor? Icon used looks is Rising Personal Firewall and not RIS 2009. What it missed can be fix just have to let rising know. I'll still use RIS 2009 has block nearly everything PrevX can block.

As per Matousec the answer is:
It may look strange that the free version of Outpost Firewall finished with the better score than the paid Outpost Security Suite. The reason is that almost all features that our project tests are implemented in the same way in both products. However, Outpost Security Suite includes antivirus and antispyware engines implemented by additional driver that are not included in Outpost Firewall Free. And because of these additional drivers Outpost Security Suite did not pass level 9 tests, which caused the final lower score.

They only tested the firewall not the suite. Without a HIPS nothing stands to make a high score in these "tests". There are plenty of excellent firewall options at the bottom of this table for the same reason including Ashampoo, FortKnox and Look 'n' Stop. All of them of course have varying features and need combining with other software to achieve optimum protection. If only people would spend the same amount of time learning why they get infected instead of trying to find the ultimate protector, then we might end up with less infection spreading to the rest of us.

Well HIPS is in Rising IS also there is one in RFW -MB I set that to high. I know they're not testing the full product. They need to come clean that they are not. False testing then.

LOL, I used to have respect for this Matousec; now I find his operation comical.

What conclusions can be derived from a leaderboard that mixes results of new versions of some software with old versions of others?

    This is a complete joke.

Where is the free version that has HIPS? The one I got, RIS, didn't seem to have it unless I missed it.

Actually, a lot of conclusions can be derived. But to derive them you need to be a thoughtful type instead of just "score watcher". For one you can take the test pack and test your lovely security by yourself, knowing what every test does. You can modify any test (since they come with the sources) and make them suit your special needs. You can learn at least _some_ weak sides of the product in interest. But you can hardly derive anything if you are just mindless score-watcher.

I did not ask about what conclusions can be derived from the tests, I asked about the conclusions that could be derived from the leaderboard.
My point was that his ranking system mixes old test results with new test results.
When AV-Comparatives does a series, they test all products so that it is quite clear which product is number one.
This leaderboard gives the impression that KIS is better than CIS, when the CIS version listed has not been available for several months? o_O
He should forget about his silly ranking system and just list the test scores.

    I hardly think it matters.
The release notes for the latest (15 May 2009) version indicate it *may* have put it ahead of KIS, but who careso_O BOTH 96% BOTH 10+ BOTH Excellent
But CIS is FREE and KIS is NOT! LOL

I find 'fanboy' posts a laugh.

In a free World anybody is free to develop any ranking he wishes and make it publicly available. If you disagree with the ranking you'd better develop your own ranking instead of telling a free person what he should do.

Rising Internet Security (RIS) and Rising Antivirus (RAV), both have their own HIPS. You can locate it at "Detailed Settings">"Active Defense">"System Reinforcement", clicking "Custom Level" shows all detailed.

Typical examples of Sophistic logic - ad hominem based.

Aristotelian logic would be far better and exact - but would need to make an inner effort. It's why isn't so used.
